melonhead if its a clause that releases him on relegation we wont get anything will we?

Teams tend to put relegation release clauses in contracts that mean, should they be relegated, they must accept any offers at that price or higher for the player.

For example, if a player has a £1m release clause in his contract and you get relegated, any offers of £1m or higher must be accepted

so its like a normal release clause, but only applicable upon relegation.
what happens if no one offers that ammount? are we stuck with him?

Hi. Welcome to the board. We're a friendly bunch around here. Can I assume by your username that you were born in 1997 and are now either 15 or 16? If so, I would give a friendly piece of advice to not treat other posters like complete oxf*rding muppets by condescending them?

Thanks, and fcuk off newbie.

Was I the only one who felt sorry for him? Never got the service he needed and think that he did OK all things considering- Without his goals we would have been relegated as bottom club earlier than when we were. Thought he could have reached the level of expectation he was given in the Championship

gotta be classed as a failure.

Yeah, but the relegation release clause is usually lower than a minimum fee release clause might be.
Minimum fee release clause = you can go but for a good price
Relegation release clause = you can go on the cheap

The club can still accept any offer for Pog that they want, they just cannot reject any offers that meet or exceed the agreed clause amount.

Whether Pog goes or not is probably more reliant on someone offering a similar wage to what he is on here, and that, in my opinion, is unlikely.

Out of curiosity, does anyone actually know the true amount that Pog is on? I have seen figures varying from £25-30k a week through to almost £80k a week.

All we can really go on is that some papers said he was signed in a deal worth £60k a week.

Now that was a four year contract for a free, so almost certainly had a hefty signing on fee and probably a solid survival bonus. Maybe a survival pay rise too. Clearly we can expect him to be on big money, and we were reported to have offered significantly more than Fulham to get him.

So I think we can safely assume £40k - £50k a week and not be too far off. Split the difference and call it £45k a week.

Assuming there was anything to the original report and it wasn't just pie in the sky. Which is also possible.

Cheers Ian!!

I'm just sure somewhere back in time (last Summer to be exact!), there was a lot of chatter that large signing on fees were being chucked around to offset weekly wages so that players would get the same amount over the period of the contract. I seem to recall it was supposed to of being done to keep some sort of wage structure in place. If this was true then it is possible that he is not on anything near what we were thinking (sure £35k a week was mentioned somewhere) so maybe we will be looking for a more significant fee to recoup some of the signing on fee. It would seem that AZ has said we don't have to let anybody go unless we or they want to, so it may be that The Pog is retained........... knowing the unrestrained joy that will bring to some people on the board!!! :D

Bet Fulham are glad we could afford to offer him more, the had to make do with signing Berbatov instead.
Look how that turned out.

http://ojde.biz/321-zingarevich-pogrebn ... ya-iz-apl/

The owner of Reading Football Club Anton Zingarevich admitted that he will not obstruct Pogrebnyak to move to another club if you go a decent offer from the Premier League:

"Of course we want to see Paul in his next season, but Pogrebnyak always wanted to play in the Premier League.

If we receive an offer from the Premier League, we will discuss it and, most of all, Paul will leave our club in this case, the Russian billionaire, said in an interview with the Russian TV channel.

So theres every chance he could be off , but - WCBAP

thats why i dont consider the article to be that credible. when an article doesnt even get the name of the player right, it is more than likely bullshit. even thought it does seem to have direct quotes from AZ...

I presume what Anton really means is, 'Please come and take the lumbering lightweight off our hands. We don't want to play all that money for him to sit on the bench in the championship. We don't want any money for him."
