loyalroyaldaz What about Clint Dempsey?
I cant aee him getting many games at Spurs this season but he is surely good enough for the championship.

We stand on the brink of a Promotion season but for two things - Forwards. Add Rhodes, Austin, Hooper etc. to our squad and which fan would not expect immediate Promotion. As we are, it is all hope regardless of the facts against us. We will not get promoted unless we put our hands in the Russian pocket and pay decent prices for decent Strikers. I know that RFC have never understood this but sometimes you have to pay what a player is actually worth!

Seriously, take your cock out of Jordan oxf*rd Rhodes' backside for 2 seconds. Its becoming so tiresome! There are more than 2 strikers on the planet with the same ability and availability, probably better availability, than Rhodes and Austin.

Well we have got out of this division twice in the past 8 years with that approach so it can't be all wrong.

And both of those promotions were due to the fact that we added a striker (Lita and Roberts).

But the point is we didn't spend massive amounts getting them, and in 05/06 I would argue that it was the capture of Doyle that was more important than Lita. The simple fact is we don't HAVE to spend massive amounts to get a decent striker, but the football manager generation don't seem to understand that.

Irrespective of the player in question, it is probably unrealistic to believe that a player, when faced with the choice of joining and PLAYING for a Premier League club, would then choose a Championship club instead. It is mentioned that SCFC are sniffing after Rhodes if the price is right, if the price is wrong then it is just not worth paying. We would all like us to have been in the hunt for Hooper, but let's be honest here as soon as QPR agreed a fee, NCFC swooped in and there was only ever going to be one winner (and ok a lot of us did :D ). We may need to be looking downwards if we need a forward or abroad.

I was disappointed we couldn't have at least MATCHED the £5.5 million that Norwich have allegedly got him for, personally.

Do I remember about a year ago people saying we should show ambition and buy Junior Hoilett? We lacked the ambition to meet the price tag.

That went well.

Cost does not equate to success.

I'm sure we'll sign at least one striker, two if we manage to move on Pogrebnyak.

From what I hear, Celtic wouldnt budge from £8m for us earlier on in the saga; they accepted £5m or so from Norwich. Suggests to me Hooper wasn't interested in coming here or he would have agitated for the move. The move to Norwich was one he wanted, which meant Celtic didnt really have much option.

Yes but I'm sure if we did offer £8million it would not have been up front - maybe Norwich offered most of it up front.

We can only hope now that we manage to keep Pog. Think he will be good in Champ if he can accept the drop and stay. Lot better than anything now left I think.Although theres always that bloke at Bognor Regis!!
