Friday's Legacy
Maguire
urz13 It was never on in the first place, and we ne'er even spoke to Defoe ffs.

Yes we did

We absolutely did speak to him, and he also expressed an interest in coming here; but because it's such an ambitious move, some corners just wont accept it's genuine. Most were the same with our attempt to bring Sigurdsson back. Yes it was also extremely unlikely, but nevertheless we made a bid, it was accepted, and he was good enough to hear what we had to say.

The only thing I can't get my head around is we must have known what he was earning at Spurs, and roughly what it would take to bring him here. So to be put off by his wage demands just doesn't seem right to me. But it sound very much like it wont happen now, unless something unexpected changes.

"In the off-season we were negotiating with players at the level of England internationals," Zingarevich said. "People like the club."

^ This is literally the worst thing that has ever been written on Hob Nob. It's like reading AIDS. Like AIDS in sentence form that you can catch by reading. Which would be an awful idea. Actually- noo, it's good. The quote, not the AIDS reading thing.

Last option Defoe

by paddy20 » 11 Aug 2013 09:02

It seems we will have one last option of getting a top class striker in. That has to be Defoe from Spurs at £6m. 25 goals plus our emerging team could seal promotion. Hammond, you have to take this opportunity!!!

What opportunity would that be, this is pure fantasy. Spurs won`t sell him and if they did he would not drop down to The Championship.

Also next year is the World Cup (presumimg we qualify as we are shite shite shite) he will not want to miss out on selection by dropping down a league. He is a quality striker still. Silly idea.

We should really think about instituting an IQ check before assigning usernames.

Spurs are offering him for sale at £6m. QPR want him on loan but it has to be a cash sale

As he is getting older I think he may drop a league if its near to London and he thinks the club may get promoted. If we are not aiming high, and after all £6m is the sort of investment you have to make if you are at all serious we may as well stay little Reading!

Total comedy! Why on earth would Defoe consider dropping a league in a World Cup season
