Assuming we get some money at some point, realistically, I'd take:

Fryatt Matthew
Koren Robert
Vaughan David
Jonathan Parr
Matthew Etherington - maybz not realistic, but said he'd be willing to drop a league if need be
Liam Ridgewell
Zoltan Gera
Stephen Reid
George McCartney
Brian Stock - is he crocked now? Know we were interested a few seasons ago
Andrea Orlandi
David Lopez
Guy Moussi
Matt Derbyshire
Lloyd Dyer
Tommy Rowe

+1 apart from Stock, Etherington and Moussi

Jed Wallace yet to agree a new deal at Pompey.
Only 20 (We'd have to pay a bit of compo), probably one of the highest rated youngsters in L1 & 2.

And guess what? He was born in Reading Reading.

Went to Frogmore Community College in Yateley so if anyone on here knows him: have a word

Any chance of getting Kieran Agard even though Rotherham are up? I thought I heard he was out of contract this summer

No, apparently Rotherham have the option of extending it.
Which is exactly what they will do you would imagine.

We just sold someone with 1 yr left on the contract so might still leave. Tbh I think they will offer him a long term contract rather than just extending it after the season he has had

Yeah, someone might well buy him, but he won't be going anywhere for free.

Ishmail miller? Think if he can get game time he can be more then useful for us.
Definitely take Jonathan parr, how about joe cole playing behind the pog? I guess wages will be to much

Chuks Aneke from Arsenal might be worth a go - scored loads of goals in half a season for a struggling Crewe last season - bit raw, but plenty of pace and power - must be worth a gamble at Champ level.

Most of his goals are pretty tasty as well, got an eye for a longshot

Is anyone really expecting Joe Cole to wind up anywhere other than QPR?

Not many names on there that appeal to me, but this is just a small selection of those available anyway.

1. Clearly, after the departure of ALF, we need a striker or two (or possibly three) that can score regularly as the club has none on the books now. For all the faults that became evident by our formations/tactics and mainly his striking partners limitations, ALF was a good finisher that we didn't really make the most of. I'm not convinced we will get this pick right, but we will have to wait and see.

2. We need a left-back unless Obita is to continue - and if he does, we need cover anyway. In that regard Briggs, Parr and Moxey would be suitable and realistic targets. Less so, but even Alcock who can play any position in defence.

3. Our midfield is weak centrally in terms of depth (not too bad in quality if Karacan and Williams are fit). Guthrie really hasn't won me over and needs to offer much more. He must have the ability, but (like HRK) it doesn't come through out on the pitch often enough - so he is one I wouldn't mind selling on. I'd steer well way from the twilight years characters (Sidwell excepted, although zero chance of that anyway) and suggest our preference would be for the likes of Rowe (will have a few clubs after him). I'm hoping we use 442 (if we have the right players) but a more advanced midfielder like Aneke (raw potential and power) would be a useful option too.

4. I'm sure Nigel will be looking to ditch a right-back too - my pick to move on would be Kelly if anybody was interested in him. He clearly wasn't impressed to inherit three of them when he took over.

5. We need to get Hector signed up quick too, and possibly one further player capable of playing the central defender position (3rd/4th choice type).

It's all specualtion, and depends on who else may leave, and what happens with the buyout - that will determine at what level we do any shopping.

Jhon Pirez, released from Chelsea, seems an interesting one. 21 year old Uruguayan (in the international youth setup). Seems to know where the goal is, although in Uruguay and the Spanish Segunda B. Seems to have potential. No idea if he'd still be able to get a work permit though.

From what Charles Watts said the other day it sounds like Sweeney is really pushing himself into that 3rd/4th choice role.

I think that's been blown out of proportion tbf. Someone asked if we're likely to find some hidden Irish gems, like Long and Doyle, and Watts said we've got two in the academy who aren't far off the first team. Pinch of salt I reckon.

Well, he contextualised it after to say that he wouldn't expect them to be first team regulars (obviously) but in/around the fringes of the first team squad next season.

I'd like us to get someone new in.

I can't see anyone coming in until the takeover is complete. If we go into administration won't we be banned from buying anyone anyway. We will just be moving players out to keep paying the bills and the salaries.
