Norfolk Royal I've seen him play a lot and he's not very good. Lightweight and totally unsuited for the championship, or premiership for that matter.

Whenever his name is mentioned in Norwich people laugh. That's pretty much all you need to know.

Yeah, and ask anyone in Lisbon and they don't.

He wouldn't be the first footballer to suffer from a crisis of confidence, and it's not essential to be built like a tank to succeed in the championship.

It would be like Norwich taking Pog off us last year or the year before. Only one club are going to be happy with such a deal and it's not going to be Reading.

Reports from Norwich that this will be a loan. We need to build a team and sign players permanently. This would be our fourth loan this summer and it kind of gives the re build a superficial look.

We would still have the beric money too.

Would feel mor comfortable if we signed him on loan and bought in a permanent striker, or simply bought him permanently.

Didn't he play in Portugal? Therefore it seems to have some legit grounding for me.

Rubbish.

Taylor is a low risk loan to cover for injury
Fernandez has a £1.2m clause meaning we can buy him if the loan works well

Pizaon and Van Wolswinkel (if it happens) are designed to get us up the league, if they were in our price bracket and the players and their clubs were willing, I'm sure we'd do it.

The team is predominantly made up of good signings and academy products...you still can't be happy?!

Don`t do it. May be a decent striker in less physically demanding leagues , but he will always struggle in England.

I think Clarke said he wanted 1 or 2 more, providing none of his players moved on. So potentially, this deal is to fill the gap that Pog leaves behind, then there's Piazon and still room for one more. Complete guess, of course.

What's the Portuguese connection?

I know we've signed Hurtado, but do we have a man out there?

The Thais apparently have connections in Portugal but seeing as RVW is Dutch and plays in England having left Portugal 3 years or so ago I wouldn't have thought any connections they have would have been tapped for this.

All bit :| as all I've seen of him points to one big disaster. Didn't see him doing much for them in the Championship last season - or did they loan him out somewhere.

Maybe not, but he isn`t a natural goalscorer , he isn`t extremely fast, decent technique, but not exceptional, reasonable positional sense, but again not exceptional, physically not very strong.
I have seen him play in Holland a few times and he`s obviously good enough for the Eredivisie but that`s a crap league nowadays.

Loaned him to St Etienne, scored 5. They didn't take up the option to buy.

Royal_jimmy If this happens it'll only be a loan. We need a striker on a permanent deal not loans. I'd rather give Cardwell a go

Surely Liburd, Samuel and Novakovich would be ahead of Cardwell?

Samuel's injured but yeah, Cardwell's fallen down the pecking order a little.

Whilst I'd be fairly happy with this based on his record before Norwich signed him, I think he's quite similar to Sa, and that's not what we need. We could do with someone with some genuine pace.

Yep definitely, give the one who can't even get a start for the under 21's in.

We need permanent signings. If we sign this guy and no one else it would feel a little bit like an anti-climax considering the money we offered for Beric.

A little piece on RVW

The excitement about van Wolfswinkel’s arrival was well-justified. His previous two seasons at Sporting Lisbon had yielded 45 goals, including nine in the Europa League and a call-up to Louis van Gaal’s Dutch squad. Indeed, he had such a golden touch that he was even keeping his in-laws happy, with his father-in-law, a certain Johan Neeskens no less, preaching his virtues to the willingly-converted in yellow and green.

The rest is pretty damning though so I won't post it.

It's true that Norwich fans were excited when they bought him as his record before was good. He even scored in his first game or second game with a header I think and everyone was getting his name printed on the back of their shirts in anticipation that he would score plenty of goals.

Oh dear, then nothing for about 19 games and despite paying millions for him they had to drop him eventually because it was clear that he had completely lost confidence and was not quite there either physically or fitness wise to play at the level they wanted him to play.

You'd have to agree with that if you'd seen him play much. He is too easily muscled off the ball and had comparatively poor touch considering his previous write-ups.

They've been trying to offload him for ages now and put him out on loan last season. He's on big wages as well as he cost a lot of money, can't remember exactly how much but more than £5-million I think.

I'm not saying he couldn't get his confidence back and be a decent player in the right surroundings but the championship is not that place in my opinion,

As we've just signed the Chelsea guy on a season long loan and he sounds a similar type of player to RVW, presumably the RVW link is dead?

Different positions I would assume.
