SCIAG I'd be perplexed if this happened. Very much a sideways step.

If he does go, my #1 and #2 picks to replace him are both Kuhl.

(And as an aside, I think anyone who saw us against Ipswich knows that we have the potential to finish in an automatic promotion place. We wouldn't "do well" to "nab" a play off place - we should be firmly within the top six)

Should, but this is very much a confidence side. I'm expecting a few more dips in confidence as the season progresses. I just can't see the consistency in the team this season.

maffff It'll be Pearson, surely..

Looks like Pearson is the favourite for QPR.. Hopefully not leaving the door at Fulham open for Clarke

Since Rodgers was sacked I have called for Mick McCarthy to be appointed. I believe he and Reading are made for each other. I am hoping that should Clarke go (and I don't really want that to happen due to upheaval) then finally I'll get my wish.

Is that #1 Martin #2 Aaron or the other way round?

Unless you mean Sharon? Is the Championship ready for a female manager?

If Clarke does go. I can't see Pearson being hired by another Thai owned club after what happened at Leicester caused national news there. Maybe someone from aboard?

Panic over!
SSN now reporting that FFC are now looking to appoint Pearson before the weekend.
Time For SC to come out and say he 'never had any intention of leaving', 'need to complete the job', 'owe it to board and fans' etc...

Gr8 news. Hopefully the Board will provide more generous funding in January so that SC can complete the task of transforming us into a midtable Championship side.

Interestingly* Pearson is still 6/4 despite that news breaking about six hours ago. Clarke as short as 1/4 in places.

I'm all for hilarious negativity, but you are a touch harsh on Clarke. If we don't finish in or around the play-offs this season, I'm fairly certain we'll go up next season. A huge team transition (which any Reading fan with any sense was calling for after Adkins) isn't going to pay dividends in one season.

I know you're going to point out that he has barely improved us post-Adkins, but in reality he can only be judged on this season and he's given us a lot to be positive about. The only thing I think you can be critical of is his constant tinkering with the team. This is partly down to injuries, but I suspect he's not 100% convinced on his best team and he's compounded this by missing opportunities to leave sides unchanged when his hand wasn't forced. I attribute this to three things; he's not sure what his best team is (his fault), injuries (not his fault) and 'over-loaning' (a mixture of his fault and DoF for me).

You've been a Reading fan long enough to know how important consistency is. Our two title winning teams were fantastically fortunate with injuries to the extent that I can still reel of the starting XI's of both sides because it was pretty much the same every week. Both those sides also benefitted from having played together a fair bit before their success too, the same cannot be said of this group yet. In fact, it's laughable how little they've played together when you also throw in most came in on deadline day too!

I really hope they are wrong, this would be a huge step backwards for the club, and a massive sideways step for Steve Clarke. I am still finding this really hard to take, and can see no logic in this whatsoever

I guess all we can do is "Watch this space"
