Mikele Leigertwood and Jimmy Kebe

by Z175 » 09 Dec 2015 14:22

Does anyone know if both these two are still unemployed? If so, I 'd imagine they won't be for much longer...

Jimmy is not playing. Think he would be a good player coach under Macadee. He was interested in returning to Reading at the beginning of the season but Clarke said he was not interested as he wanted to change everything!

On what grounds would he be a good player coach - think he could hardly speak English when he was here ...

Jimmy now plays poker as a profession/hobby. Can be spotted playing big stakes at London Poker Room in Edgeware Road most days.

Probably speaks better English now that most English people. True a couple of years ago he wasn't that fluent. Brian rates him and once described him as one of the most intelligent players he knows. He also loves Reading FC

Don't get me wrong, Jimmy is one of my all time favourite Reading players. But you'll have to come up with some pretty convincing evidence to demonstrate he "loves" RFC.

He pretended he couldn't speak English whenever Tim Dellor was around.

But yeah, there's no reason to believe these two would be good coaches. I think McDermott would only appoint one inexperienced coach.

The last thing you'd want at a club is a coach with Kebe's history of inconsistency, poor technique and a penchant for going on strike when he doesn't fancy playing.

Brian, like most people in football, used to say a lot of things that were complete rubbish.

I've seen players kiss the badge. It was never enough to convince me they loved the club.

Saw Kebe in Vegas this summer, funnily enough. He was wearing Crystal Palace shorts.

Offered to come back and play for nothing at the start of the season but was turned down by Clarke.

Kebe played just 15 games after he left us. As a 31 year old you'd suspect he's lost some pace and is nowhere near fit.
Rather than offer to return was it more like he begged us to take him ?

Great to watch in his prime, but Kebe without his pace is just a bloke. Not sure what he would add to the team anymore.

Was fit after pre season training with Mallorca and decided not to join them - think he could have played a part for a season Sure he would have played for 6 months for nothing, how many players would do that?? Think Clarke didn't want anything to do with previous regime which in part I think led to his downfall

In what way was Kebe part of the previous regime ?
And what job could an unfit, unemployed Kebe have done ?
Players only play for free if they can't find anyone who thinks they are worth paying.
He had a great season for us but that was a long while ago and no one in their right mind would take on a player that would not have got close to the first team.
