TBM
Royalwaster Also what I find underwhelming is that he looks like a similar type of striker as Vydra - i.e. small ...

 small?

Not sure what you class as small but this his him, on the right

Unbelievable Jeff
andrew1957 looking at the longer term this signing would make sense. It would mean we could leave Samuel on loan for the rest of the season to get experience whilst Washington beds into the squad. After all next season we most likely lose all or most of Vydra, Cox, HRK. Piazon and John and so we will need replacements.

Just maybe next season could see a Samuel/Washington partnership up front.

In the premier league? they wouldn't stand a chance!!

er.. that's unbelievable Jeff. You actually think we will be in the PL next season......

I was thinking the two of them up front in the Championship myself which is less of a stretch. if by some miracle we do get promoted we would need to buy in a lot of experienced players to survive and 3M spent now would be somewhat irrelevant.

What is he trying to achieve here?

So when Washington finally does leave he won't look like the bad man to the fans?

Think so. He's quite active on twitter, and he's always banging on about how much he puts into the club and how they only sell their big players for decent cash.

I wouldn't sign any player from Peterborough on principle. They always seem to have utter dicks as managers/chairmen.

Its obvious he will sell for the price (lets say £3m) but he's probably not happy that the bids received were, say, £1m up front and £2m over 4 years or on promotion etc....

There's a young lad banging in the goals (again) in League One who looks an even better prospect, cheap too... he's ours!! Why not give the boy a long over-due run in the side? He reads the game as well as any experienced forward I've seen at the club in years and will score goals. £3m for another prospect when we already have one just seems wasteful.

Liburd 18 months older and only proven at U21 level. Samuel younger and already scores every other game at L1 level. Would say Samuel is in the lead at the moment although I hope Liburd comes good too.

That was supposed to happen this season, then he got injured, his Gillingham loan was all about getting match fitness, he could play a part and I think the month loan extension is to allow us to judge our striking options before deciding to bring him into the squad.

Zactly! Only reason for going public is to create a bidding war to get more ££££££ in for him. Chairman wants to get a larger up front sum from a club probably.

As long as you are scoring then the better players actually miss more than they score. Very few players convert every chance they get, very few do as well as 1 in 2 or 3.

I think they said during commentary last night that his loan has been extended for the season.
He took his goal well but very difficult to judge the rest of his game as he wasn't in it much and looked a bit lightweight but he has time to grow and could be a first-team contender next season.i

Rather go with Samuel as can't see this guy making an immediate impact this season

Last Season none of our strikers scored home or away against Wigan when they were in the championship so that goal he scored speaks volumes. Touch and control is better than any striker we have at the club.
