One8Seven1*
Lacoste
George_ Can also play at left back so could be cover for Obita. Would be a useful signing.

When will people admit that Obita is shit?

Did well for a short time at left-back but he really needs to be pushed back up the field to where he's most comfortable. He's a got a decent cross on him and we need that delviery. He's wasted in defence.

I think he is a player with no position.
Not quick enough nor tricky enough to be a winger.
Not the central midfielder that he thinks he is (not agile enough moving from right foot to left nor quick enough nor intricate enough with his passing).
Not a good enough tackler, header of a ball or positionally aware to make a good full-back.
He could play wide left in a midfield 4 but Quinn or Reach would IMHO be much better.

Not a bad player this Reach so would be pleased to see him join.

Don't get the Obita hate. He's not the best offensively nor great at defending, but that also rings true of our other fullback, and I certainly prefer him to Gunter.

He's still young for a defender in a position which requires a fair amount of experience. I have no problem moving forward with him as first choice provided he has genuine competition.

Thought he looked good for Preston against us at the end of last season. Sign him up!

Agree with this, but i also like Gunter. Happy with both provided there's competition.

Obita has been let down by the utter dross we've had at lm for the past three seasons, his best season was when he had an experienced and hard-working winger in front of him in mcanuff. He has been too isolated and has had too much pressure put on him, he's 22 ffs he is absolutely competent at this level and will only get better

It wasn't just the winger in front of him. It was the CBs inside him. If you are going to be playing Gunter and Obita (both of whom are really wing backs) you need solid defence inside them. We have struggled with that recently

Apparently we're waiting on 'boro to finish assessing whether he could be part of their PL squad or not. Reading may well look elsewhere if a decision is not forthcoming quickly.

wingnut Charles Watts seems to think there's something to this:

Can I be the first with the reacharound gag?

Er,
Adam Reach(around)

Good. Thanks, I feel better for that.

I would love having a Reach around (the squad).

Don't see him being in AK's plans for next season tbh but I'm also pleased that we aren't willing to wait about and have other targets in mind. Nice to see a bit of urgency and thought into our transfer policy.

This one seems dead in the water to me, nothing moving on either side.

Luke Garbutt hasn't been given a number by Everton. The left back that kept Obita on the bench (most of the time) in the England U21 set up.

If we could get him it would also free up Obita to play further forward, which probably suits him better.

Obita further forward? Considering his attacking form the last few season (don't think I've seen him take on an opponent and cross from the by line for at least 2 years), that's the last thing I would do.

Something may happen soon as Sheff Wed have reportedly made an enquiry for Reach today.

Generally it's a bad idea for a full back to take someone on, if they lose it there's often a gaping hole behind them.

Personally Obita's ability going forward is the least of my concerns about him.

Wednesday bid of £2m rejected by Boro. Guess that's us out of it now.
