https://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/spor ... wonderkid/

22 year old winger with 1 senior appearance for Leeds to his name. Now at Tadcaster Albion.

Not to be confused Billy Whitehurst.

Personally, I think we should be looking at players like Blair Turgott, who are proven scorers in the national league, not evo stick league

Not sure how a 22 year old playing in the 8th tier of English football can be called a wonderkid but anyway....

Noticed there were some rumours about that Ronan Curtis chap who we were after being scouted by Derby

Don’t mind these kind of deals. Rarely come off but would be cheap

I always think they're kinda pointless.

Brett Williams, Danzel Gravenberch, Sandro Weiser etc etc sort of pointless, I've forgotten most of the good examples they're so pointless. Usually players you know the second they arrive will never feature for the first team.

Usually good pub quiz answers

David Mooney, Cedric Baseya, and the legendary Eric Obinna Chukwunyelu

Baseya, that is exactly who I was thinking of. Oh, and Mendes. Donkey.

Nah he's exempt due to that one 10/10 performance against Villa, one Baseya could never ever dream of

I thought Billy Whitehurst was brilliant.

And, apparently, so did Steve Moran's missus.

Below the National League you can sign someone without there being any transfer window restrictions (I think?), so maybe that’s part of his appeal, i.e we could sign him right now.

He’s a winger, so wondered if the Barrow situation is a factor, or maybe the chances of signing Sims are slim? Then again, he’s 22 so maybe he’s simply one for the future.

But yes, I agree, seems like it would be a huge step up for him here. Low risk, though, and maybe no academy grad wingers are pushing?

So glad this is our main active transfer rumour. Fills me with confidence.

There is only no restrictions between clubs at that level. We could buy him now but he couldn't play until Jan - though I doubt he would play this season anyway - should he sign.

Face it, what player the top 2/3 divisions would want to join Reading at the moment?

(M)any of them who would get some combination of one or more of
1) more money
2) more game time
3) being at a higher level
