Royal_jimmy I think if we sign any highly experienced (aged 32+ players) it should be in midfield, not up front. Defence looks ok, I'd be surprised if we sign another defender. Hopefully Mbengue renews!
This squad really lacks in a few key areas, resolving these will see us up there in the league.
1) Pace, we should sign some players (strikers or attacking midfielders with genuine pace) so we can be better on the counter attack
2) A finisher - a Curo or Alfie style striker who can bang in some of Carroll's headers/knock downs
3) A set piece taker - when was the last time we scored a direct freekick? we haven't replaced that attribute since Swift left
No idea who's available who could fit those bills. Maybe Sam Smith could be the goalscorer. Let's hope our scouting team are looking at these areas.

MM Somebody like Akor Adams at Lillestrom in Norway would be ideal as a striker. We could pay more than his current club but would our third tier be seen as a good idea when it's probably only a matter of time before a better European side snatch him away from there. Sam Smith never impressed much in his first spell, but has done enough at Cambridge to suggest League 1 is a level he can cope with.
I would love Meite to stay if a sensible deal could be struck. The fitness record is a concern, but as long as wages are reasonable we should definitely be trying to convince him to stay as he would be way above League 1 level when fit. Hopefully Mbengue will also remain as he was decent last year and his versatility and pace will be important in defence. I wouldn't be sad to see Ince go, even for £50k. His attitude last season was far from helpful to a struggling side.
Central midfield needs the most attention numerically, but you don't have to spend much if you're smart. Would not surprise me if Forest allowed Fornah to go for a nominal fee and if that was the case he should be an option. If the fee was more than about £100k then we probably shouldn't bother. McIntyre might end up playing defensive midfield more often than not, unless three or four new players are signed for central midfield roles.
We also need a first choice goalkeeper. The likes of Baxter or Lumley would be fine at this level.
And we need to have a capable manager. Chris Wilder hopefully, unless we can convince Slavisa Jokanovic this was a project he should take on. Nathan Jones undoubtedly has qualities, but his failures at Stoke and Southampton and questionable characteristics negate a lot of the appeal he would have earned from doing well at Luton.

He's been gone too long.

Royal_jimmy Not surprising. Just a shame we don't have say a £2m release clause as the money would help us invest more in the squad.

morganb Luton striker Admiral Muskwe is interesting Barnsley. The Zimbabwean spent last season on loan at Fleetwood and is set for another spell out with rival League One clubs also in in mix.
