He wasn't good enough for us in the Champ, i'm erring more towards league 1 or abroad.

He's still rated though. Poyet at Brighton almost had him in January in a deal for cash + mackaill smith. I think church would not be short of championship options.

I would prefer to send him out on loan somewhere - needs to have playing time. I think he could be the new Shane Long - remember how everyone thought he was useless until he suddenly came good!?

Very similar players - the only difference being that Church lacks the pace, strength and heading ability of Long.

You may have forgotten 'finishing'

I was of course being sarcy as they are streets apart. Apart from Church's poor record with 1on1s I actually think in terms of finishing they are/could be quite even in this.... but generally Church lacks the raw attributes Shane has which makes a world of difference.

churchy is no long. he could end up being a solid striker for us in the future if he could get some damn confidence, which frankly is hard to do when he has his fans up his ass all the time. if we loan him to another club and he does well and bangs in 10-15 goals i could see that as the start of his potential.

It was said by many on here at the start of last season it was now or never for Church to step up, and apart from a few patches, he didn't really do that. This season will be even harder for him to do so against much stronger opposition so I think he has no option but to seek a loan or permanent move elsewhere.

So Simon Church is now the best striker in the world i think we should keep him! or sell him for the now appropriate fee of £20m :?

Church maybe good enough for a championship team but certainly not playing regular in a 2 man attack for a top 6/8 team, as he wasnt for Reading.

He put away 3 decent goals today, worth nothing neither Roberts or Hunt managed a goal.

His pace, effort and positioning worked for him today.

The header was sublime but one was a tap in he couldn't possibly miss, and the other would have been saved by any half decent keeper. I hope this adds an extra fiver to his price tag and he's gone before Aug 18th.

TheSiege Simon Church has always been potentially good - It's when he takes to the field he has a problem.

Agree with that.
