If we were to sell McCleary it would be for a lot more than £1.5M

If they paid 3million for Morrison ,we should ask for 10million for McCleary. If Long was worth 12million we
should ask 15 million for Mc Cleary.

Doesn't really make any difference, unless he has said he be signing a new deal. Cardiff don't want him next summer, they (possibly) want him now and we can either tell them he's not for sale or ask a price we want. They are not the ones with the position of strength here....

Surely a windup. Can't see this on any usual shite transfer websites.

The same McCleary that broke his back and is out for 2-3 months?

If it's true it will be done and dusted in seconds like any chance of a sell as we bite Cardiff's hand off, the mirror-opposite manner of our summer-long umming and ahhing over buying someone.

there was no umming and ahhing that lasted the whole summer

up until a week or so ago we had bugger all money, and were not in for buying anyone at all.

Just a general statement regarding RFC's buying strategy. Seems to take forever signing anyone, generally the overlong process results in losing the player.

Couldn't be anymore different when we are selling; I doubt interested parties calling up can even complete their sentence before SJM's arrived panting at the door of their office with an outstretched shake-ready hand.

Judging by the fact we seem to sign players who spend the following seasons out injured for the most part, I'm guessing the delays to their signature has little to do with concerns over their condition.

Presumably you are thinking of Cox and Mackie as examples ?

I'm not sure of your point, it's been commented on many times that generally our transfer dealings come out of the blue. First we know of a signing is the announcement that a player has signed. There have been a few cases of drawn out deals (Tommy Smith), but are you confusing press speculation with genuine attempts to buy ?

transfers are a complex system, involving multiple stakeholders, within the even bigger and more complex system of "the transfer market"
i think its just really fukking hard to get the three parties to agree on something as complicated as a transfer, within an ever changing marketplace,
especially for a club like reading, with no money and no big historical success, that needs to bring in players in from a very narrow price range, who must have the right DNA etc

having a DOF who detests buying anyone for more than we value them at doesnt help make the process easier either

I think you are making the process rather simple there.
Any transfer these days has at least 4 parties, often more.
The agents are often the ones screwing the deals as they look to maximise their earnings (which may not equate with getting the best deals for the clubs or players). There are often multiple agents, especially with overseas deals. Agents may string clubs along while they try and hawk their cash cows round to others who may pay a bit more - horrendous business !

Two of my best friends are agents - I assure you , it's worryingly easy!

A key investor has pulled out. If the takeover still goes ahead, they're won't be a great deal of money invested, certainly not unless someone else is found.
Expect to see players going to fund players coming in, rather than investment from the owners themselves.

That isn't me, but I heard some pretty negative stuff about the takeover a couple of nights back. Waiting for quantification / things to go public before I say owt, though. Because I hope it's not true.

That Mirko has been very reliable with this takeover, and he basically backs that up. All sounding terribly familiar.
