Re: Fed to West Brom?

KC Royal Tbh i'd be surprised if this happened for 2 reasons.

1) Sitting on West Brom's bench wouldn't do his international chances any favours.

West Brom would need a bigger bench as well.

Re: RUMOUR - Shane Long to West Ham

KC Royal :?

Don't recall posting any rumours before (other than the Fed one from the same place). And its the first time i've come across that site.

Fair enough. That site is good for one thing only - getting a few laughs.

You can submit your own rumours if you want. Go on try it - how about Simon Church to Leicester for £5m as they can't persuade Long to join them.

KC Royal One rumour i've just found.

02 Aug 2011 22:55:31
Shane Long has agreed a new two year contract at Reading FC and this is set to be announced before the Millwall game at the weekend.

The new contract comes with a £7.5m release clause, applicable to bids from teams from the Premiership only, and a verbal agreement with McDermott that the striker can leave in January for an agreed fee (believed to be lower than the above) if the club are not in the top 6.

Would be great news if true, would at least mean he's quite likely to play on Sat!

Wouldn't be surprised if there was an element of truth in that - it would effectively put an end to any speculation about West Ham / Leicester, but would still enable a Premier league club to come in with an offer of £7.5M+ before the end of the window (see Gylfi signing his new contract last year).

Assuming that Long doesn't have any desire to play for another Championship club, he'd have nothing to lose signing such a contract, and the club could quash any speculation about him going to a rival and keep the fans happy (I don't think many would begrudge Long a move to a Premier league side, but a move to a rival would be a different matter)- everyone's a winner!!!

WBA are set to announce the signing of Adam Federici from Reading FC for £2m as a replacement for Boaz Myhill, to challenge Ben Foster for the #1 jersey.

Source? If not forthcoming I'll assume FR so will move to the appropriate thread.

Agree with all that, there seems more meat in this rumour than most too. I actually said to someone the other day that signing a new contract would be in Long's interests as it may enable him to get a better move.

Joey Barton is wanted by Everton, West Ham and Reading.

03 Aug 2011 11:46:32
Leicester set to make a £5m bid for Reading striker Simon Church following their failed attempts to get Shane Long

31 Jul 2011 18:12:15
Reading will not sign a direct replacement for Shane Long if he is sold to a Premiership team this summer. They will instead replace him internally, with Adam Federici becoming Noel Hunt's new strike partner.

Reading will look to re-sign Abdulai Bell-Baggie and Pierre Joseph-Dubois to replace Shane Long, Mathieu Manset (linked with a number of clubs, from Aberdeen to Rennes, with one source cheekily mentioning Chelsea), and Noel Hunt (angling for a move to Birmingham or Wolves so he can live closer to Long, Kevin Doyle and brother Stephen). Joseph-Dubois' wage demands are thought to be a stumbling block.

17 Aug 2011 00:33:45
Noel Hunt is reportedly unsettled in Reading, and would like a move to a West Midlands club, in order to live closer to his brother Stephen, cousin-in-law Kevin Doyle and best friend Shane Long.

16 Aug 2011 01:02:57
Southampton Are set to make a surprise move for Jobi Mcanuff, the reading captain would cost £3.5million.

These just get better and better.

Ferris His cross for Bryn's header was the defining moment of our record-breaking season. This man is a true Reading legend in an age where that term is overused. The fact that there isn't a plaque, or a signpost or a statue of him in our town is utterly disgusting. IMO.

Sorry, I was in LA but wasn't that Sekou Baraji? Excuse any spelling errors.

both midlands rumours are from the same ip address, and i'd take £3.5m for mcanuff all day long. sadly it's not true either.
