Believe it's just termed "emergency" so UEFA/FIFA are happier with it's existence.

Meoci71 Garath McAuley not getting a look in at WBA with the form of Lescott and Dawson, surely worth an attempt to get him in at cb until jan on loan.

That's a pretty good shout. Experienced defender and, from what I remember, half decent on the ball and had a reasonable season last year for West Brom. Centre back is our weakest position at the moment, and one that we haven't got strong players to come back into, unlike midfield and out wide.

Another player who might be a good short term stop-gap is Ryan Taylor. He's just come back from an injury nightmare (so he'd fit in well!) but if he's capable of getting back to fitness he'd add a combative option in midfield, a more defensive option on the right of midfield or competition for Gunter without Kelly and Cummings. He's also deadly on the free kicks, something we seem to be missing.

I'm sure there are more suitbable defensive midfield options out there, I just can't think of any and it must be a priority.

I'd also like us to see us get a left back in for the short term as well. This is less of a priority as Obita has the potential to be sound here but we've no cover and no competition. Luke Garbutt at Everton looks pretty decent and a loan to the Championship might be just what he needs for his development.

We need something to just shake things up and try and give Adkins some scope to change the team. Hopefully they're working on something or the run up to January is going to be a struggle.

Possibly out of our reach but Ryan Taylor has now been released by Newcastle (all over the news due to the crappy why they did it).

If we lose Karacan and can shift another midfielder as well he'd be an excellent utility player to add to the squad (but obviously wages would be an issue as would the interest from lower Premier League sides and higher paying Champsionship clubs).
