tNamelesssandman As I've said many times before, he is a very good athlete and that is about it. Poor header of the ball, can't cut out a cross at our end and can't put one in at theirs.
On current form 2 out of those are wrong and full backs aren't usually all that in the air (given that they only play full back because they are too short to be centre backs, too slow to be wingers and not skilful enough to play in midfield. Luckily they are too clever to play in goal)

+1
Cuts out the cross plenty of times (he really doesn't.)
Is last man reading the play and putting in a key block or interception many times (he can on occasion, yes, when he's defending on the back post but other than that he rarely gets near the winger when the ball is on his side of the pitch because his positional play is shocking.)
Makes more runs into good positions than anyone, including Vydra (Exactly, he makes the runs and nothing comes of them because his final ball is dreadful)
Does put in a good cross (how many of our goals since he's been here have resulted in a cross from him? Can remember one at the top of my head for Jobi against Birmingham but apart from that they are extremely rare, he put another decent one in recently but it didn't lead to a goal. Most of his crosses either float into the keepers arms or hit the first man.)
Just my opinion but several managers think he's not too bad either. (Well he's been the only option for Clarke and now Brian. And Wales system means they play their only other natural RB, Jazz Richards, in a more advanced role so even they've got no choice but to pick Gunter either.)

Pepe the Horseman72 bus Bang average right back, not anywhere near the class of Murty or Griffin
Proper Fullback
Pretend Fullback
The only difference between Murty and Gunter is that Murty used to shout a lot.

semtex1871 I'm currently sat in the bar at The Madejski Hotel and Gunter has just walked in with a very gay looking/acting Thai(?) man and has sat down at a table with Madejski......

paultheroyalbracksroyal10 Works hard but cannot put a cross in to save his life and the only pass he seems to have is that first time pump over the top and down the wings.
Easily replacable and would actually be good to find someone who can cross the ball for the wages we are paying Gunter.
If we are looking at a signing for experience in the team though ... Tony Hibbert?
He's there to defend not cross the ball and he is a welsh international. Go ahead, find better!

Ian Royal If only we had got Clyne.

What so we could go looking for another full back not long after?

moonwalklikebas Gunts is far from being shit.
Hes not a world beater but he is a good, solid RB. Dependable and his injury record is very good.
There will be a lot of clubs queuing up in this division (and lower prem) if he let his contract run down.
The Majority wont fully understand how important he is to us until he leaves and we have some shonky replacement brought in

Spot on. Really cannot understand the negativity from a vocal minority who seem to hate him for no reason whatsoever. He would be greatly missed IMO.

He's a good athlete and because of that he makes you think he's better than he is.

sandman If I had a closed mind on him then I wouldn't commend him for his athletic ability and his professionalism. He is not alone in being a player who is more of an athlete than he is a technical footballer, the modern game is littered with them.
Wales have two right backs, due to the system Coleman plays his only other option to play in that position is in their team so of course Gunter is going to get lots of caps. Wales are doing well but they aren't doing well by relying on players like Gunter and Church. They're doing well because they've been lucky enough to produce two top class players in Bale and Ramsay.
Similarly the only competition Gunter has here is Niall Keown who may not even end up being a right back.
Oh and I've criticised plenty of others crossing as well so Gunter is not the only one I have an issue with in that regard.

It's a bit like saying that a school kid tries hard and has turned up to all his lessons! It's what teachers say to try to demonstrate they are being even handed when they actually think the kid is a no hoper.
