From Despair To Where? The only other person linked then was an Israeli bloke who owned an online gambling site and had a net worth of about £30m.

I genuinely want us to be bought by someone absolutely mad, for the lolz.

Maybe an offshoot of the Colombian cartel, Kim Jong-un or a business venture by al-Shabaab. Or your man in Turkmenistan that changed the name of January to his own name. Yes, him, he is the one.

Sounds like this bloke will be a big improvement on the last 3 owners. Get him in.

Why on earth would any sane and rational person want to buy this football club?

Dirk Gently Why on earth would any sane and rational person want to buy this football club?

Because the problems are mostly owner driven and it's at a relative low ebb, with all the infrastructure currently in place to get back in the Champ and compete to get back into the PL.

So with some savvy leadership, possible to buy low, get up the league structure and sell higher.

Ego, status, boredom, dream of being hero worshipped, thrill of being involved in football

Same as any club really

I'd agree with Ian on this one. If you look past the current financial quagmire, you've got a club with a decent stadium, state of the art training facilities and a Cat 1 academy .

If you can buy at the right price, you've got a fundamentally solid infrastructure in place.

The other factor to consider is that we've had three different owners in the last 10 years or so (ignoring SJM). Pretty clear none of them knew what they were doing / getting into.

This seems common across the leagues. So why would we be any different now.

Good catchment area I'd add to that as well. The only professional club in the county so something that can be built on there, competition locally is pretty minimal which leads it to being a good location as well.

It just takes a Mike Ashley-type character for me. Not going to break the bank, keep us sustainable by incrementally improving and focusing on what our strengths are i.e. the academy and developing players. Dai's spent too long trying to make us something we aren't, whilst literally spending way too much in the process.

anyone who wouldn't want Ashley needs to take a long hard look at themselves. he would be brilliant for us, amd we sure as hell wouldnt get a better owner wanting to buy us.

Not a fan of Ashley but we could do a hell of a lot worse and I don't see anyone better leaping out at present.

Don’t see Ashley leaping out either. Is there anything in this or just wild speculation?

Guess he gets linked to every single club from champ downwards who are for sale

I haven't seen anything on him specifically, all I was saying was he's the type of owner we could use at the club really. Obviously got some dough but runs his football clubs sensibly and he actually understands football as well. For me personally, someone like him, whilst not perfect, would be a marked improvement on what we've had in the last 10 years.

Yeah, i've not seen any suggestion that he's looking at us. But it would make logical sense given that he's sniffed around clubs that have recently been in financial trouble. We might be a bit too small for him, but on the plus side he would get us at a bargain price.

How much do we think the club itself is worth - how do you value such an entity and what would it include?
Then how does the debt get factored in to come up with an overall price?

He'll probably sail through the EFL scrutiny although they will closely monitor his activities once it's far too late to prevent the problems created. Then, realising their mistake they'll do their utmost to make the fans suffer for what has happened.
