Hahneman gave an interview to the radio and basically said that not all the players were as upset over the relegation as himself, Murty and Harper. He didn't name names but basically said that they have done themselves no favours (I assume he means in terms of their relationships within the squad).

So who do we think he was referring to? I'd go for Shorey, Hunt and Lita.

Ideal
elrey shane long to become a legend?

SL's pace is going to count tenfold in the championship where defenders are generally fairly slow and cumbersome.
If he can improve his finishing he might get 20+, as he'll certainly get enough chances with that pace. However he isn't exactly Gary Lineker in front of goal at the moment, so he'll have to practice more.

Although he doesn't consistently get into the type of scoring positions that Lineker used to his instinctive finishing is one of Long's strengths if you ask me. When he has time to think or when he has to get control of the ball and hold it up he's been useless. He'll be a much more useful player in the Championship though.

I can't see too many offers coming in for Rosenior to be fair. He's looked ok, and I always thought he was a good full back at Fulham, but I doubt he's done quite enough to convince Premiership managers to pay money for him.

Same for Matejovsky really. There can't have been many clubs chasing him in January if he chose to come to Reading and I don't think he's done too much to make anyone sit up and take much notice of him. Admittedly a good Euro's could change that but we'll have to wait and see on that.

Fae

He was talking about in the dressing room after the match - Fae wasn't there.

So Matejovsky does NOT have a release clause in his contract so it will take a big offer for him to go and there weren't a host of clubs after him in January.

Matejovsky to Stay?

by Coppell's Right Footed 11 » 13 May 2008 15:30

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528, ... 85,00.html

Marek surprised at relegation but has no release clause, and is happy with this time in england so far.

So...Hahnemann,murty,rosenior,ingimarsson, duberry, bikey, convey, harper, marek, little, kitson, long likely to be players who we will keep??

If so we would have a strong side, obviously depending if Coppell stays on

The lack of a relegation release clause is a right touch.

This is good news.

He'll be ripping many championship defences to pieces next season if we manage to keep him.

I think it depends entirely on the Euros.

He's had a promising start to his English career, so its unlikely someone who watched, say, the Bolton game would think he's worth a punt.
I think it would be unlikely that he'd want to move, having only been here 6 months.

But a good Euros and the right bid will see him go.

Worrying aswell as rosicky and nedved will not be involved in the euros, means he may get more involvement although im not sure how far they will progress

I was really pleased for Marek that Rosicky is out injured, now I'm not so sure! MM is far, far too good for the Championship, but hopefully nobody will find that out this summer. Could be another Sidwell situation if we did go up at the first attempt (except this time at least we'd make some profit), so again, lessons need to have been learnt and the management need to plan for this.

Am I naive in thinking that the way that the club (and SSC in particular) have treated the players will encourage the likes of Marek, Bikey, Kitson, Doyle, Harper, Rosenior to stay?

The only players that I think are unretainable are: -

Shorey (with the benefit of hindsight should have gone in January)
Hunt (could be sold for more than his real value)
Lita (better getting a fee for him now, rather than losing him for nothing next year)

Plus the likes of Bennett, Oster (despite his best performance in a Reading shirt on Sunday), Halls, Brown who shouldn't probably been on the payroll this season

To be honest an awful lot of clubs in Europe will be after Marek even if he just plays in the Euros.

There ain't many players you could get that would be better value. He'd do a job in any top European league and that fact he's playing for a Championship side will alert a lot of teams.

I mean FFS, wasn't Gary Breen training with Inter after one World Cup?

The Evening Post says anything up to 10 players going, with quotes from Hammond, basically along the lines of football clubs go in cycles and we need a clear out and new faces.
