IMAMATEOFJOVSKY So have Egoman and his grape feeding DOF been out-manoeuvred ????????

The fact that we penny pinched for so long, has given Portsmouth time to drive through a clear strategy and ownership going forward, which has allowed their manager to put in the bid , that we so grudgingly had to offer, at the first time of asking

If we hadnt fart arsed about at the outset when Pompey were in total disarray, and werent in a position to make any offer, we would not be in this position now....

Oh how the Ego may be dented!

I'm so bored of you, I've given you many chances, but this time, I'm fed up of you so you're going on the foes list.

what about the other two players he's allegedly after - why is taking until less than a week before end of transfer window before signing them? :|

Stranded Just as an aside, if he passed his medical yesterday why didn't be complete the deal there and then rather that wait til today and give scope for something like this to happen.

isn't the medical done after personal terms have been agreed anyway?

Kinda my point - there's no point doing the medical until everything is agreed. So, medical passed, please sign here.

You, of all people, should know that this season is all about patience

I'm well aware of that, but it has been obvious for some time what Rodgers is after in the transfer market and it is somewhat tedious that it still doesn't appear to have been sorted.

Just been on the Watford FC Forum and they are lovin the fact we are now being shafted by the Pompy bum boys, they think it will mean more money and one over us!!!!! W*nkers

Royal_Belly Nick Hammond maybe? they don't have to tell us all the ins and outs but just the basics - "yes we have made an offer and it has been accepted - by both clubs and player" "yes tommy smith has been for a medical - and passed" "yes tommy smith will be uveiled as a Reading player in front of 8,000 fans at tonights game!"

I'm just soo frustrated!

Until he's signed on the dotted line the club can't really say anything though, if they did that and the deal fell through they'd look even more stupid than they do now.

I trust that they think they have everything tied up on this and that Pompey's late bid won't affect Smith. Sometimes it does though, a bit like Forster turning down Preston or Hunt with Bradford.

But the public, drawn out nature of this fiasco was started off by Rodgers spouting off (and carried on by Rosso).

Wouldn't have happened under Coppell - we may well have lost out on potential targets but at least we benefitted by not knowing the gory details.

This doesn't half make the appeal of watching 22 honest lads play football at Windsor & Eton every week seem more attractive.

Bugger the quality of the football, no-one's really in it for the money - you go down, have a pint, wander around the 4 sides of the ground and have a chat, then, win lose or draw go home secure in the knowledge that they'll turn out again next week and give their best. Nothing else really matters all that much. No-one's in it to make millions, they just play football for the love of it.

All this cloak and dagger stuff and last-minute brinkmanship is rather amusing in its way I suppose but really is just so much bullshit. It's not really football is it?

they also think TS will choose Pompie over us because of the roadworks on the M25 making the commute longer to Reading, than to Portsmouth, apparently.

Sky Sports News understands Portsmouth have entered the race for Watford's Tommy Smith.

Smith looked set to seal a move to Reading this week after a fee was agreed for his services and the player underwent a medical at the Madejski Stadium.

However, Portsmouth are ready to hijack the deal and try to bring the former Sunderland and Derby ace to Fratton Park.

Smith has been linked with a move away from Watford all summer and it appears the Hornets are resigned to losing their prized asset.

Portsmouth are believed to have agreed a fee of £1.8million with Watford for Smith and have been given permission to hold talks with the player.

Pompey boss Paul Hart is keen to bolster his squad after losing their opening three games of the season and seeing a number of top stars leave this summer, and he sees Smith as a quality addition to his ranks.

Nothing happened under Coppell for two years which is why we're in this mess.

Whereas so much is happening at the moment, it's clear that we have a plan B, and that we are being proactive in the market (but i suppose that moving on players who don't necessarily want to go, could be construed as that)
