BrockManson I don't think spending £8m on a single striker who is unproven in the premiership would be a wise choice.

The club are right to pull out of this deal; can't really afford the luxury of a new striker in the relegation battle when currently Pogrebnyak and Alf are producing goals.

Could well be a good player, possibly a Michu but then he could also turn out to be another Morientes.

Reminds me a bit of Massimo Macarrone, top scorer in Serie B, decent first season in Seria A, bought by Middlesbrough for shitloads and never really achieved much in the Premiership.

£8m would be a massive gamble, the success of which would be completely reliant on us staying up.

I'm not sure, but my understanding is he'd be used behind the striker in a 4-5-1. It seems that's what we're lacking now we've almost sorted the defence, legs is improving and we have Karacan back. As someone mentioned our wing attack is good but give us a central attack option too and we'll be very dangerous.

We were clearly trying this with Jobi in the middle. I think we can possibly stick with Jobi but getting aspas would make us a very strong team with all positions cOvered.

Now we're only 1 point from safety it HAS to be seen as a serious option. He could give us those 1 or 2 points that'd keep us up. QPR possibly wasted millions on Remy. Yes got them a point but the odd point for a team so behind might not be enough. For us though it's VERY critical.

Think about it please RFC

If you think it's worth considering, I'm going to go ahead and guess that it's not.

Which backs up what McDermott says and does beg an 'if we stay up? maybe.... just maybe?' question.

Liverpool reported to be close to signing him. Will be interesting to see what we could have had.

"I only want to sign winners this Summer" says Brendan Rodgers just before he signs Iago Aspas from the likely to be relegated Celta Vigo.

this is indicative of our problems in the transfer market this jan.

we had the money, we had the will. but, the players who were good enough to justify the fee, and were what we needed were just too good to come to relegation threatened reading
