muirinhoNewCorkSethSnowflake Royal Gunter has literally just had his replacement signed having had free reign at right back for half a decade. If there's an obvious player to make an assumption about its him.
Blackett was hardly at the top of Stam's list and got dropped plenty by him.
I figured Gunter is too soft to say something about the current manager.
Get where you're coming from, but Gunter is nearly 29, with a decade of experience at this level behind him. He is more likely to be regarded as an "older" player, and, all things being equal, to get the nod over a younger less experienced player. If the comments are true it sounds like Clement won't be terribly interested in using Richards or Watson too much. I doubt he will be too worried about potential lack of playing time, given there's two full-back positions, and only three senior players, one of whom is coming back from a long layoff. if anything he's safer with Clement than with a manager who's gung-ho about getting the youth involved.
So, if he said anything, it would be as an observer, where it's not going to matter to him either way, than as somebody being negative because he's worried about his own position.
Gunter is 29?? I feel a bit stupid now thinking about it. He still seemed like a 26 year old.
