From Despair To Where?
RG30
From Despair To Where? The only other person linked then was an Israeli bloke who owned an online gambling site and had a net worth of about £30m.

Teddy Sagi, founded Playtech https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teddy_Sagi

In 1996 Sagi received a nine-month prison sentence after being convicted in Israel of bribery and fraud

Fit & Proper.

Playtech? Don’t they make bras or something? Might be an ideal fit for Reading if that’s the case.

morganb How much do we think the club itself is worth - how do you value such an entity and what would it include?
Then how does the debt get factored in to come up with an overall price?

I think what it includes would be the key factor in valuing any club - debt, stadium, training ground, additional land, etc. Additionally the price will fluctuate based on the urgency the current owner has in selling the club.

Wolves were sold for a tenner a decade or so ago, but that was subject to the new owner clearing the club's debts (IIRC, was in the tens of millions). A lot of US clubs have a hugely inflated value due to the lack of promotion or relegation, meaning there's relatively few clubs who could ever play top flight football in a very sizable market.

I would say £20-30m seems reasonable for us, assuming that includes the stadium, training ground and any debt not owed to Dai.

Wasn’t the training ground and the stadium both valued about 30m each in recent accounts?

Think a lot of the valuation would be how much Dai could get back to cut his losses on it all.

We would like to send the following message to anyone who is potentially interested in purchasing Reading FC.

This outlines what many supporters would expect from you if you took control of the club.

The hatred for Sell Before We Dai is so pathetic I'm almost laughing at it. Wider press coverage of our plight, political involvement including an ex-PM, and a lot of losers sat at home doing nothing are choosing to sneer and belittle it.

I do applaud the effort they have put in and obviously got some good publicity for the cause so fair play for that

But that does read like getting ideas above their station. Realistically if someone wants to take over the club they don’t have to do any of that, and certainly not take orders from the individuals who have put that together

The first rule of Shite Club is we demand the moon on a stick"

I'm all for campaigning for change but to present yourself as having some sort of stake or influence in the potential sale or running of the club is, at best, naive.

And another. If I was a potential owner with no affiliation to Reading, this would make me think the fan base are more trouble than it’s worth.

Don't call me a keyboard warrior and prawn sandwich eater, otherwise I'm going to throw some socks and write a strongly worded letter to no-one in particular.

If I was a potential new owner, I'd be thinking "Cool, I can fob them off with a couple of glib platitudes"

Think the other issue is fans are genuinely pretty easily placated. See the joy at us paying a tax bill for example

Announce Selles and Walcott today, get linked to a few half decent midfielders and suddenly everyone is fairly positive again

Well an owner coming out and saying something, even if it is platitudinal, would at least be an improvement.

No, any positivity went in the Wilder farce. Going to take an incredible season start to get it back again.
