Mr Angry Did Sky say when was the bid tabled?
Did Coppell say when the bid was tabled?
I was under the impression that we were all aware that a bid HAD been made before the WC - thats why the figures of £4 -£4.5M have been bandied about for ages (even on this thread).
IF this is a new bid then it most certainly would be news.

Mr Angry My understanding is that this may well be a confirmation of the bid made pre WC.

Reading this BBC article that they've just put up, I think you are probably right.

Doesn't seem to be anything new there.

Royals make record bid for Mensah
Ghana defender Mensah enhanced his reputation at the World Cup
Reading have made a club record £3.5m bid for Rennes defender John Mensah.
"We're waiting for things to happen. We're not in a position to start the ball rolling," Royals boss Steve Coppell told the Reading Chronicle.
"We depend on others, and our resources are such that we're waiting for the fall-out on other deals."
Mensah, 23, was an ever-present at the centre of Ghana's defence at the World Cup and signed a new three-year contract with Rennes in April.
Coppell also confirmed that he has earmarked several other targets as he looks towards the new Premiership season.
"At the moment we're hovering around," he added. "We know our targets. Sooner or later something will happen."

The second half of this is a real Coppell quote but it's very old. Did he actually state on SSN in front of camera that we'd made a bid?

Scarface Marvelous, Coppell has put all his eggs in one basket and it looks like we'll be shafted.

which cameroonian defender are we trying to sign then??Stranded Anyway, EP reports that the deal is all but dead hence why the Cameroonian defender is in Sweden.
Apparently we have been close to tying up some deals only for it to break down at the last minute.
