If Fed and Sig leave the club, we will have lost our two best players on the same day.

What a joke this club has become. Ambition indeed.

Terminal Boardom So if Fed goes, Hamer becomes #1. Who sits on the bench? Aren't McCarthy and the Danish one already out on loan?

England U-21 McCarthy > Hamer. Perhaps he was sent out to keep him match-sharp in case Feds departed.

That would be the same McCarthy who gifted Rochdale a goal yesterday.

Spoke to Ben Hamer's mother on Tuesday and this is what he's been counting on for some time now. Fed leaving.........

His chance to be the Reading No 1......................

I think both of their deals were timed so that the initial loan finished between the end of the window and our next game.

As for Federici rewarding us with his performance against Leicester...check out their goal!

Alright, I know, but we still got the 3 points and he played a large part of it. Could have been a more convincing 3 points if he'd played better, but you know what I mean.

Given (no pun intended) that he's conceded plenty of soft goals this season and last, two things spring to mind. 1) Would Fulham really be interested? and 2) Would it be that much of a loss if they get him? I'm leaning towards no on both counts. I stated my hope on Twitter when McCarthy's loan was announced that he was going out to keep sharp in light of potentially playing for us soon, so I continue the hope that that is the case, or that Hamer recovers from the Northampton debacle and stakes his claim.

If true, this rumour would be massively unsettling, but it doesn't necessarily make the team worse.

Federici makes really good saves for the cameras, but his positioning or something was badly wrong for the Leicester goal on Saturday - it was a yard inside the post. Hamer is ready, and will need some games to make the shirt his own, but he could come good.

You've got to just wish Fed good luck.

That's my opinion. Vilified after his mistake against Forest, in-spite of first half saves that meant we got a point. Brilliant stop from Dyer against Leicester that ultimately helped us win the game. He isn't as consistent as I'd like him to be, but he's what, 24 or 25? Still has years of improvement ahead of him, and over a long run of games will be no more inconsistent than the likes of Hamer, Andersen or McCarthy, who are not, as some would lead you to believe, the Second Coming.

'Fed up' with this club. No ambition to do anything but survive in the Championship on a shoe-string, which will ultimately only lead us back to League One.

Griffin, Mills, McAnuff, Kebe and Tabb are better than Federici.

To be frank, "seeing how well we can do without spending" has been our way since getting promoted in 2006. It's bizarre that after over 15 years of striving to push the club forward, JM completely changed his thinking and seems content to let the club free-wheel.

So, 'keeper makes mistake. Huh.

None of them are perfect, but I would imagine that the U-21 call-up is indic8ive of his talent

What ever money Reading make from this transfer (if true) will be good business as he was signed on a free and nobody else would sign him many seasons ago as he struggled to make the grade/find a club. I don't think this is a great disaster by any means especially as the club have several other goalkeeping prospects.
