I understand that Notts County have matched our offer and that Tommy Smith is due to have a medical there later today.

Fair play to Russo, he may well have played us good.

Is Beckford still available at Leeds?

Notts County are showing some ambition and getting the chequebook out.
Are they really a bigger club than us?

Personally I think this is all Riseley's fault.

Latest rumour....Smith is cadging a lift off TBM to Brentford. Apparently their board really knows how to invest.

According to news reports on BBC Berkshire this morning, we've lost out on Smith and he's joined Pompey - I dunno if they're just speculating or if they actually know for sure though. :|

I'm not believing it until Sky Sports sources confirm it.

The farce continues. The Tommy Smith saga is worse than watching the soaps and their story lines develop.

Platypuss A little more from last night:

"I respect Tommy and his decision," added Rodgers. "He needs to take stock of things on the basis that he and I have a terrific relationship."

Ahhhh! You have to feel more than a little sorry for Brendan here. He sounds like the guy at the wedding watching his drunk missus dirty dance with every fella in the room, telling everyone what a great relationship they have together, before she goes and sucks off the Best Man.

Can't say I really blame the guy. If the transfer had gone through before the season started, he would have been joining one of the promotion favourites. However, the longer this has dragged on, the more we have looked incompetent as a team and the more he must have got frustrated with the situation. Now the opportunity has come along for him to play Premiership football (albeit for 9 months  ) and I for one can't blame him.

I have it on good authority that he read this thread on his Blackberry on the way to Reading yesterday which is why he's decided not to join us.

Are you suggesting this 89 page thread has made us come across as needy and desperate?

09.10 The Portsmouth News reports that Paul Hart will unveil his new signings Tommy Smith and Aruna Dindane before the game against Manchester City on Sunday. Apparently a photo of Dindane wearing a Pompey shirt has already been leaked though, oops.
