Jonny Fordham... announcing that is like a mate telling you that a really fit girl is interested in you, but she's pregnant with your uncles baby

So all in all there was over £13m to spend in January..?

Bollocks was there!!

You don't buy the Carrico's and Akpan's for a couple 100k and then bid £10m for ONE player!

Reading FC spinning us all bullshit to appease the fans.

this just disappoints me further, tbh id rather not known that we were in for gylfi than see that we almost got him. :| good news though, unless gylfi has a huge upturn in form he will be available next summer most likely which means we will have 2 months to worry, fret, and obsess rather than one month! and at the end of it he will go to BR and liverpool and break our hearts all over again. BUT we will have ALMOST once again made the deal happen.

The cynic in me thinks that "we tried to sign Ince and Gylfi but couldn't do a deal" is just a smokescreen for the fact that TSI are about as flush as HMV.

hang on...you probably do right?

If we'd spent £5m on Graham and £8m on Aspas.... then it wouldn't make sense. But the gossip regarding Ince and Aspas and now this indicates they decided to pool their money together for 1 big morale boosting marquee signing, and add a few cheap squad improvements, mostly a better right back and a holding mid, rather than piss away another £3m apiece on the next Gunter, Fae and Halford.

That's odd, you're usually one of the more rational and neutral posters on this board.

8)

The club must like non-questioning fans like you who eat up their spin.

Thats a bit harsh on Gunter. I think he will come good, just not yet. I would even dare I say it loan him back to Forest for a couple of months

Lolz, you have no idea what I think of the club, its transfer dealings or its media policies.

Just because someone doesn't agree with your tedious "Everything is terrible and sh*t, aren't I witty and cynical, let's moan about everything" world-view, doesn't mean they agree 100% with everything going on in the club.

Yep, you can't possibly shop for bargains and marquee signings at the same time. Them's the rules.

I honestly think we've pulled off some clever moves. Akpan was at Everton and is a quality player (maybe we considered him back when Everton let him go), Kelly is a solid right back, Blackman has potential and Carrico was on Manchester United's radar before he became a bit unfit (although I wish we'd get him up to speed as whats the point of paying someone to do nothing).

Spending millions on one player after that isn't too bad.

Marquee signing? More like tarpaulin signings at RFC.

Yes, Sigurdsson would have been a marquee signing. :|

August transfer window - fans complain about a lack of ambition and that the club don't try to make big money signings. January transfer window - club tell fans they tried to make big money signing of fan favourite ex-player, fans still complain. They really can't win with you people!
