Do you know what, even if Tommy Smith did turn around at this stage and say that he wants to join us I'd turn around and say "Thanks but no thanks Tommy, your indecision has been your downfall. We need players at this club who can make their mind up quickly. No,. it's usually the other way round. Agree terms then check there's no medical problems as the last thing before the actual signature - otherwise teams would be doing unnecessary medicals all the time.

I have heard that this whole transfer idea was a great big scam to try and convince Watford that their money problems were coming to an end. The press conference was going to present Nicky Hammond about to squirt Tommy Smith in the eye with a plastic flower in his lapel. So, why didn't he sign for us straight after his medical? And more to the point, shirley this now indicates that he's agreed personal terms at Pompey, or he wouldn't be bothering to have a medical there.
