Would you expect there to be when RFC like things kept quiet? (assuming you're referring to Cox's FB)

yappy West Brom for the majority of last season played a similar 4-2-3-1 system, with Cox playing in the hole.

This,

it gives us the option of both, without having to leave out/include a player in our 11 that we wouldn't usually. With Cox we can play both formations without changing the personnel which could be valuable tactically

Would be over the moon for this, infact it would make up for losing Gylfi, but why would he leave WBA?

Isn't leaving WBA, it's just a rumour, if you can call it that!

Can't say its been ruled out. We didn't bid for him but we certainly enquired about his availability.

This hasn't been ruled out. Fordham said last night that Reading will wait and see if Cox is in WBA's 25 man squad and if not we may look at a loan deal.

Ferris When are the 25 man squads announced?

I thought I read somewhere 5pm today.

I expect a real bunfight for loans in the next day or so.

Daily Mail Simon Cox eyes Reading return after falling out of favour at West Brom
By Sportsmail Reporter
Last updated at 7:40 PM on 7th September 2010

West Brom striker Simon Cox could rejoin old club Reading on loan after failing to force his way into Roberto di Matteo’s plans.

Cox, 23, began his career at the Madejski Stadium before joining Swindon and then completing a £1.5m move to the Hawthorns in July 2009.

Reading-born Cox has played just 23 minutes of league football this season as a substitute in West Brom’s 6-0 opening day defeat at Chelsea. Reading want him to replace Gylfi Sigurdsson who joined Hoffenheim for £6m.

Presume Cox has a good relationship with BM. So perhaps now there might be a chance of a return. Trouble is longer term WBA will be looking to recoup their outlay, so we would be putting him in the shop window for them, with short term benefit to us.

Definitely a lot of "smoke" around this one, but another relatively diddy striker. Not sure that would really strengthen our tactical options.
