It isn't as far fetched as it sounds, especially given that Reading have been discussing players with Mancini (or City's Hammond equivalent). With City out of two cups and the squad as deep as it is his game time is likely to be restricted to Europa League duty at best. Mancini has already admitted the experiment with signing him hasn't gone as planned and with him only three months left on his deal he might just let him go now to see if he can build up fitness now.

What else is there open to player and his current club?

He isn't going to get a game at City - he must be desperate to play coz he knows he has to prove to the watching world that he is capable of making a decent contribution otherwise his career is as good as over.

If he feels fit enough, come to Reading, get a few games under his belt then maybe, just maybe, that could be a springboard to a modest deal that at least potentially extends his career for a year or 2 more in the PL. Man City get some contribution against a dead salary for them as he has nil resale value.

It's probably a question of how fit he feels in himself and how much he wants to kick a ball in earnest again.

Well let me tell you something, Hood is still in service and does railtours several times a year, and it as only 5 years ago its was in passenger service between Cardiff and Fishguard (renumbered as 50028 Tiger temporarily). Here she is in 2006 at Fishguard. (I think this is the 1st time ive managed to get a Class 50 on URG.)

Just w8ing outside a 1950's semi in Chagford Road for a 'Mr Hargreaves', a lady booked in the appointment which i presume is some kind of PA. Im only putting 2 and 2 together at the moment, but seems like a strange coincidence to me. If it is him im not sure if he's gonna like the dog next door.
