Never really warmed to Marriappa....a sign of the £remiership and the struggles that we were having at that time.. i guess.

Happy to give him another go....but here we would go again....signing players with no real attatchment to the fans nor the club.

If we only signed players who already have an attachment to the club we'd be fishing in a very small pool.
Parky had no previous attachment, Trevor Senior likewise, same for Brynjar, Gilksey, Marcus, Mick Gooding, Mark White, Kerry Dixon.......

Few years older now and might've learnt a lesson from all the time he's spent on the bench since he left us.

Nope, mental block on it. Have to check every time. For some reason Khizanishvili never caused me a problem, but Mari...whatever just doesn't ever look like it's going to stick. For that reason I'm out.

"Hi, Adrian. While we would love you to stay with Reading we have to tell you we have a had a bid from Premiership side Palace that we have accepted."

"Hmm", thinks Adrian, "A season in the championship with a no money owner on reduced terms or a season with a "lesser" PL side and therefore a good chance of regular PL football and zillions in comparison to what I get here. Should I stay or regret not trying to play at the highest level I think I can?"

Yes definitely something to forever castigate him for

Both would be decent signings IMO, but I still have reservations over both in terms, Mariappa for his commitment and how much he's going to want to knuckle down for a Championship slog and Taylor for his lack of fitness (he's played 10 or less games for the last 3 seasons).

Taylor isn't half as bad as some people think though. They're probably the same people that said McShane and Ferdinand were donkeys because they've only ever really noticed them getting beaten by the top teams in the Premier League on Match of the Day.

Don't get this 'attachment to the club or fans' thing .. a free transfer footballer is an out of work footballer looking for his next pay check, nothing more, nothing less .. attachment don't come into it ..

Yeeeessss, we get that, but how many times and how many "nobbers" this season have whinged and whined on about not being able to identify with the current team, and them having no loyalty to the club nor the paying fans?

Maybe those opinions aren't really valid and are just results based afterall.

Team plays well, fans feel connected because they like the players. Team plays badly, fans feel disconnected. Simple
