Barry the bird boggler Presumably someone has read this speculation thread - anyway from the eatsleepsport site

Nick Bailey's future at Charlton will depend on whether the club is taken over, with Reading waiting in the wings.

Middlesbrough and Derby County are all believed to be keeping tabs on the talented 25-year-old but he could end up staying at the Valley if the proposed takeover goes through.

Charlton are still holding talks and if a deal is completed then that will allow the club to turn down any approaches for the in demand midfielder as they will have the finances in place.

However the failure to do a deal would mean the Addicks would have to sell if a club came in and matched the £1.5million valuation.

i really hope we go for him and if we are interested we should bid before takeover and other clubs come sniffing.

this club drives me mad, Nicky Bailey & Jonjo Shelvey are future premiership players available at decent prices now.

Mr Maj these 2 are better value than any statue or painting, you will be able to sell them at 10 times their price in 2 years. :x

Isn't SJM supposed to have a life outside of football?

At decent prices you say? Last week Jonjo Shelvey was estimated at more than £6m because Charlton feel he's better than Delph who left Leeds for Villa.

£2m on one player, a defender, shocked the pants off me. Clearly not you.

Until someone makes a bid then the price is unkown, charlton are losing a lot of money so you would think they would have a massive wage bill for division.

On a different matter, wages in div1/2 not allowed to be higher than a certain percentage of income, does this apply to relegated teams ?

Good question. I would imagine they are given 12 months to bring the wages down to the standard everyone else has to work to. As for not know what Charlton will take for Shelvey, the fact the club has publicly stated they want more than what Delph went for kind of tells you he wont be coming to Reading.
