Richi Royal I seem to remember we denied interest in Fae during the summer

Was this by the person at the club who had seen him play?

If true I'll stand corrected, but I still find it doubtful, especially given we have Shorey, Hunt, Convey, Golbourne etc.

Shorey is starting to find his form and is our number one assist man, Hunt is crucial to the team, neither player are nearing the end of their contract and we have no need to sell.

I cannot see Shorey leaving unless a ready made replacement is signed, sealed and delivered as was the case in August.

why are you sure its "on for definate" ?

is that because he was left out of their squad today, or do you know something more ?

you have been pretty confident of this one happening for a while now, haven't you?

i for one would be happy if we did sign him

We both know one of Matty's best mates! 8)

How is he looking forward to playing in our reserves?

No seriously, what position is he expecting to fill?

left back will be free soon and that's his favoured position although i'd give him a try in the centre

Sounds more likely considering that Shorey didn't play today either.

James Milner was not in the Newcastle squad yesterday, supposedly ill.
We're looking for a right sided player.......................

Milner is way out of our league!

That is probably due, in quite a big way, to the fact he takes our set pieces.

He's looked a bit more like his old self in the run up to the transfer window though.....

Apart from again Pompey .... I thought that second goal sliced about £1million off his value!

I put that down to being ill and the three games in such a short space of time.

Slinky Right people i didn't tell you this but things are looking good on the Taylor front.

Clubs agreed fee.

Player happy with terms offered.

Player happy with club facilities and personnel after having had a look around.

Contracts to be exchanged on 1st Jan so barring any late stupid bids from the top few clubs then he is ours.....RESULT!

a) He played against us, and would not have done if the deal was agreed etc.
b) It's over a week into Jan, so all of these posts stipulating that it's a done deal are fiction.
c) SC says we are not after any left sided players.
d) We already have Hunt and Convey for the left.

I think we can give up on this one now.

why when people are still saying Shorey is going to West Ham after 5 years and the Mensah thread is back after about 18 months.

Some people on here hear a name and just can't let it lie because it's someone they've actually heard of.

Really - Shorey's off to West Ham?
Hope his "tummy" problems don't wreck his medical.

Portsmouth accept Sunderland's bid for star

Matt Taylor

View GallerySunderland have had a bid accepted for Portsmouth's Matt Taylor, but the midfielder is keen to remain in the south.
And last night Birmingham City's French international Olivier Kapo emerged as a target for the Black Cats, who look like missing out on Blackburn's Robbie Savage.

Sunderland boss Roy Keane's efforts to add steel to his midfield are stalling on geographical details.

Taylor has a home in Oxfordshire and is keen not to uproot his settled family. The word from Pompey is that he may be waiting on interest from Reading to firm up.

Bolton have also had a bid accepted for the 26-year-old – who scored one of the best goals seen at the Stadium of Light the season before last – but Wanderers are also preparing themselves for disappointment after feeling they were close to agreement over the weekend.

Savage is close to joining Derby County, who look certain to be relegated but would also offer the Welshman the option not to move house.

Both Taylor and Savage want to leave their current clubs and have options.

Surely it's only going to happen if we sell Shorey?

or neither - aren't we supposed to want to strenthen the side, surely it's not a requirement to HAVE to sell before we buy a half decent player!

Indeed, keep Hunt on the right.

A left hand side of Shorey and Taylor would be excellent IMO. Two players who like to get forward and could cover each other's role perfectly.
