Yes RIP Tommy Smith transfer, and here's to hoping Mass Sarr can still be signed before the end of the window

Gus the teenage cow what an absolute farce - everybody on our side of this non-transfer has come out looking like a prize idiot, it really is a perfect riposte to all those who say we are well-managed club

WRONG WRONG WRONG

we are a well-managed league 1 club

by premier league and even championship standards we don't have a fcuking clue/chance with current jokers in charge

Yep, a fantastic endorsement of Hammond and Madejski's negotiation skills and business (at least in football terms) acumen.

When will Madejski realise that he isn't god and can't single-handedly buck the economics of English professional football?

Woodcote Royal
Royal Lady in the capacity of Director of Football. he could have played for Real Madrid for all I care, doesn't make him any more qualified to be DoF.

Isn't this the job he does for us?

Wouldn't this be seen, back on planet Earth, as a much bigger job than the one he's got now?

Woodcote, You really are a gullible prat aren’t you. Please give us proof in a statement form if possible from RFC or Arsenal football club that NH was offered, discussed or even refused joining Arsenal as DOF.

Are you telling us you fell for a cheap story from a bored Friday afternoon journalist!

And as for planet Earth, any similarity between you and a human is purely coincidental after believing that crap.

Just been told this.........

Reading called conference for 5.45pm then delayed it until 6.15pm as Madejski was struggling to get there on time. When everyone got there they heard Smith had gone for talks at Pompey instead. The new press man then denied he ever called a conference and said that if any journalist suggested otherwise it would make the club look silly so he wouldnt help them with anything in the future.

Strange! I've heard that at 3.30 they contacted journos for a 5.45 press conference, and at about 4.30 said that it might be delayed because of JM's late arrival (but by then they'd found out what was happening with Pompey and were buying time, I assume). Heard nothing about ever trying to deny a conference was ever called, though.

Obviously the Watford fans loved this...........

However, one crumb of comfort is that its been dragged out so long that its left Watford until tuesday to get a suitable replacement. With us taking Rasiak its left their options limited, and they may well panic buy.......

Watford, kept up last season by:

Rodgers, Rasiak, Priskin, McAnuff & Smith.

Watford now without:

Rodgers, Rasiak, Priskin, McAnuff & Smith.

The above post may not be 100% accurate.

It's a good one though!

Add Jack Cork and Mike Williamson to the list...

Fair play to Smith really - he had to choose premiership football. In this interview he sounds frustrated at how long this dragged on for, and it also sounds like it wasnt a very easy decision for him.

This might have been said.. (not reading 100 pages to find out) But what has really pissed me off about the Tommy Smith balls up that is.. 2 weeks ago Pompey didnt have 50p for the meater at the training ground. If RFC had pulled there finger out we would have got Simth...

But we let it drag on for so long trying to get the price down we have missed out on a good player. Same old RFC all talk...

Apparently 2 weeks ago we didn't have the money either (an overdraft had been paid off and Mills bought) so maybe that was why we were bidding low? Not saying that is the case just what I have heard.

if he was our main target, why didn't we sign him instead of Mills?

Because we only had one fit and available centre back in the squad, and therefore central defence was a higher priority. We have loads of midfielders. At that time he probably didn't know how bad we were going to be in the "creative" department.
