xtreme rebel Sorry, here it is:

"I would break an arm for Premier League return" - Kevin Doyle

Where's the source for that?

Sunday World newspaper in Ireland.

Well let's see it in context then - it's very jarring when compared to everything else he's ever said.

If he breaks his arm I doubt that anybody would buy him.
It may have been mentioned earlier but if Berbatov goes to the unmentionables Spurs could well pay silly money for Ashton and West Ham could pay us fairly silly money for Doyle.
Don't want it to happen as losing both Kitson and Doyle would mean that we have lost 2 of our best players, both of whom would be difficult to replace.

From what i have seen of Doyle so far this season I'm not too bothered. He still works hard but something is missing, as it was for most of last season. There is no spark anymore and his play is predictable.

Long looked better than Doyle and posed more of a threat.

Doyle didn't look fit yesterday and was off the pace.

He looked like that all last season. His thighs looked huge and he appeared a lot slower. His footwork leaves a lot to be desired too.

Back to the Premiership? Not yet kid. Not good enough!!

All sorts of horrible rumours coming out of Cork (e.g. he has told mates he is off next week)...

Mooney rumours gathering pace as well due to CCFC's money troubles....

Well there's certainly a lot of smoke.

If he goes he goes. I just hope we do see some of this money. That'll be a near £15m coming in from players sales and then there's the parachute payments too.

Mooney looks like the Kitson replacement. We get that physical presence back up front and let's face it, Doyle and Lita don't work well together. It's never been a combination that's gelled. It's always been Kitson and...

Doyle will be a loss, of course he will, but he had the one good season at the highest level and hasn't looked any where near that striker since. So maybe cutting loose isn't so bad.

Biggest bargain in RFC history though!

Doyle definitely on his way, Reading's Mooney bid accepted because we're broke.

Reading ready to nab Mooney

August 19, 2008

Reading manager Steve Coppell is closing in on a move for Cork City star Dave Mooney, according to a Tuesday morning newspaper report.

Coppell already has two former Cork strikers on the books, with Kevin Doyle and Shane Long proving big successes since leaving Turners Cross three years ago.

And according to an Irish Daily Mirror report, the Royals chief has bid more than £300,000 to bring Mooney – Doyle’s successor as the top striker in the League of Ireland – to the Madejski Stadium before the August 31st transfer deadline, with the player set to agree a three-year deal in Berkshire.

Cork are ready to listen to offers for the 23-year-old, with financial strife having enveloped the club in recent times.

Mooney top-scored with 19 goals for relegated Longford Town last season and has already helped himself to 15 eircom League goals since joining Cork at the start of the 2008 campaign.

He was linked with a move to Blackburn Rovers last winter but opted to stay in the League of Ireland.

Now, however, his career in Ireland could be coming to an end.
