Pepe the Horseman
Ideal +1, Pedersen can play as an in the gap striker as well, which he is excellent at, then he can really use his long range shooting and passing skills, this could open up the option of playing 4-5-1 for us.
One thing is though, he doesn't seem to fit the "hungry player" mentality that McD likes. He's a bit too far into his comfort zone, and doesn't seem to have any further ambitions.

I reckon a change of scenery would do him good

+1 look at Jason Roberts!

I'd have to agree with you Pepe think he would be an absolute steal probably not going to be anymore than £3-£4 million if Blackburn do go down maybe not even that if you take his age and recent form into consideration and we all know how good Brian Mcd is at getting the best out of his players. Maybe if we are talking about a centre midfielder with prem experience could put David Dunn into that category though if I remember he is slightly injury prone at times.

So in summary so far

by andrew1957 » 24 Apr 2012 14:16

We are buying Siggy back for 10M
Zaha for 6M
Clyne for 2M
Rhodes for 5M
Curtis Davies undisclosed
and Bertrand on a season loan

Quite happy with that as a start.

Thank you Anton.

Do you think we might be able to re-sign Les Ferdinand and Martin Keown now we're back in da prem?

Martin Keown was at the game on Saturday. Maybe negotiating his new deal and going through a medical.

Or his son plays for the Academy so he was watching the game that was closest to him.

More specifically his son received an award - I'm assuming scholar of the year or similar, couldn't hear/didn't care enough to listen - so I guess he was there to watch that primarily.

Glenn Hoddle mentioned after the Chelsea game tonight he was on trial with Reading with a view to signing for the new season.

Anyone think we need another winger possibly. I know HRB and Cykwa are good on their day but if Jobi or Jimmy were to god forbid get a long term injury, is it asking alot of them to consistently perform to a high standard?

What about Kiko the young lad whos in Barca B team at the minute? Played for Hercules regularly last year when they were in the top flight and was very good. You look at the players who have come through that team such as Cuenca and Tello. Wouldn't be too much in wages as he is still only about 18/19 and the move would benefit both sides. Very technically gifted from the games I watched of him can pass players with ease.

A right back (Clyne would be ideal) - £2m
A young centre half (maybe a loanee like Caulker @ Swansea) - £Free
A centre mid (maybe the lad from Barnsley) - £1m
A winger (Zaha a dream but other options around) - £7m
A striker (Jordan Rhodes would be absolutely perfect) - £5m

Total c. £15m

= the most exciting Reading team of all time

All well and good throwing names into the hat, but has anyone actually tried putting an 11 together with the current squad and the players they want.

Personally, I'd rather see us ride the wave with a couple of good additions, than make wholesale changes.

If we need a LB, RB, AMF, F etc then some of the heroes of this year certainly are not going to get the chance they deserve, in my mind, going against the Reading way. I'm thinking players like Jobi, Legs, Gorkss, Hunt, even Roberts. Of course there are those like Harte who must already be resigned to losing their place come the new season.

Exciting times, but also times to remember what the club is about, and to take stock. This thread has an air of 'Chelsea' to it which disturbs me.

I agree with you to be fair I would like to see the same squad near enough. Depending on how much Anton is giving BM to do as he pleases with I reckon that figure will have to be £15-£20 million to do something decent next season.

Personally would rather see the lads get a chance and then splash out on 3 players that will make a big difference to our sidee

assuming that figure was £20 million

Defender - Corluka (not too sure how much he is on a week though)

Midfielder - Sig in an ideal world though can't see it happening .... Mcgeady might be a good one from Spartak Moscow probably will want a chance to prove himself in the prem and then we have the irish connection going on too.

Forward - Again probably head in the clouds a little but was thinking probably want someone in whos been there and done it before and would have the hunger to do it again. Milan Baros I think is an awesome finisher on his day but not sure on the wages again. If not then Yildrim? Last time I checked he was at Bursaspor but was very good in the champions league might be worth a gamble.

I really do believe Harte will do more of a job in the prem then Cummings. He may get caught out now and again, but I really think his set piece delivery will be worth a huge amount to us next season.
