He was/is still our player under contract so no reason at the early stages of proper negotiations to crumble and hold Moore back from Austria which would give Brighton the upper hand and allow them to negotiate at their value price, knowing we were keen to sell. Personally I think the deal is 8M + 2m of add ons, plus Baldock on a free with us taking on Baldock’s wage for 2 years with an option of a 3rd. That’s why I say we’ll sign another 2 players as well as Baldock spending a total of 2 to £3m of Moore’s transfer money.

Tbf id be happy with that. 8+2m + Baldock would be a more than decent deal
Presumably that extra 3m or so would be on a replacement CB

absolutely agree Hound, good business if we get a Creative Mid and a CB as a result… but it drives me mad when posters think Moore put in a transfer request in when in truth, it was staged by the people who claim to run this club to keep the fans in their cage! Why can’t they just be honest with the fans for once.

Do you honestly think that a £10M deal for a player who handed a request in on Friday can be negotiated within a few days? Liam Moore to Brighton will be announced on Tuesday. Get real and stop believing the spin the club (a Ltd Company) stage to it’s fanbase when they stand to rack in £9m on a £1m investment.

If there was already a £10m bid in for the player which hadn't been withdrawn, then yes, quite easily sorted out.
It's possible that the whole thing is some sort of put-up job. But very unlikely.
Zero reason why Moore would go along with it. Why on earth should he? Given he pushed through his transfer to Reading, it's far more likely that he's doing the same thing again, than that he's colluding in a pack of lies, for no clear benefit.
And, let's face it, some people will blame the club anyway, whether he's put in a request or not. They didn't make it worth his while staying, or who could expect him to stay with the lousy team, or the transfer window wasn't good enough, or Clement is a pill, or whatever.
Those who say it's the club's fault he's leaving won't change their minds about who is to blame regardless of what Moore has, or has not, done.
In fact, this whole theory of yours is an example of that kind of thinking. It must be the club's fault - therefore they must have forced him to put in a transfer request.

not to be rude but...
A very good friend of mine Shaka Hislop back in the Elm park days was offered a new contract by Reading with a buyout clause of £1m, which back then was silly money. We all thought no way would Shaka go for a million. Within his contract was a percentage payment to the player of any future sell on fee. Not long after signing his new contract West Ham came in for Shaka meeting the buyout clause. The club (Reading FC) would only allow the deal to go through and Shaka to leave if he walked away with nothing by way of a percentage payment of the fee paid by West Ham. After weeks of negotiation Shaka left for West Ham without a bean from Reading because he wanted to play in the then, first division. So please dont believe everything you read. If you remember correctly it was reported that the club rejected the 8m +2m some weeks ago so why would they have been negotiating if the club rejected the deal? And why would the player need to request a move if the club were still in negotiation with Brighton? Moore is said to have made a trasfer request on Friday, he'll be a Brighton player by midweek. A 10m deal takes weeks to agree.
But let’s all pretend that football has become a lot nicer since Shaka's day and that the club is not too fussed in making a 9m profit from selling a Moore. And by the player now requesting a move the club's hand has been forced. If you believe that then you crack on.

So your little story makes it clear
(a) a player who wants a move will do anything to see that through
(b) a club who want to keep a player, or maximise the amount they get from him will use all means available to do that.
It proves the exact opposite of what you think it proves.
The only reason Moore would agree to the club saying he put in a transfer request if he didn't, is because he desperately wants the club to do what he wants them to do. In other words, he may not have physcially signed his name to a piece of paper - but he wants the move as much as if he had done. That's not manipulation by the club to make it look like Moore forced the move - it's Moore forcing the move.
The club aren't going to want it put out that Moore has put in a transfer request unless it's Moore pushing for the transfer (and even then, it's dubious). Why would they? It lowers his value and highlights that there may be problems and low morale behind the scenes. And it does nothing to stop them being blamed by the people blaming them anyway. It does nothing to help if they want to keep him. It does nothing to help if they want to get the best value for him. The only reason it makes any sense is if it happens to be true.
It's very simple to go back to Brighton and say - look, we know the player wants a move, but he's now gone public with that and we're getting interest from other clubs. We can still keep him if we don't get his worth. But to save faffing about you can have first dibs to talk to him if you come back in with your previous offer (or even "your previous offer + x").
That does not take weeks of negotiation, it takes a five minute phone call.
But, yeah, you crack on with your conspiracy theories. Everybody needs a hobby.

Don't really care whose agent was talking to who, and what arrangements have been made. Good luck to him, and I hope he gets a run in their first 11. He could potentially be an exceptional CB

Can't see him being any more than a squad player there but it is the Premier League and they will no doubt be doubling his pay. Easy decision to make.
