In contrast it says this on Malta Independent:

http://www.independent.com.mt/news.asp?newsitemid=63501

Disappointment for Udo Nwoko as Steve Coppell abandons chase
There was disappointment for Malta striker Udo Nwoko who will not be joining English Premiership club Reading after all.

Earlier this week, the Leixoes striker was thought to be on the verge of joining Reading FC. Even his manager had declared that the deal was practically done, but on Thursday evening, Reading manager Steve Coppell told a press conference that the club would not be signing Udo Nwoko.

The Nigerian striker, formerly of Hibernians, Mosta and Marsaxlokk, will probably remain in Portugal now till the end of the season.

cant fail to be impressed with his ball control and technical ability, something that stands out no matter who the opposition is. Maybe the jimmy kebe deal is off because of the situation with bolougne who knows, bit silly of sky sports to have claimed this twice now if it isnt the case. The short you tube clip of benfica leixoes game has a certain steve coppell look alike in the crowd!

This is the same story being regurgitated when it has alraedy been denied
This was on the OS on 18th January

http://www.readingfc.premiumtv.co.uk/pa ... 45,00.html

"I get probably a dozen calls a day from agents, with Nick Hammond and Brian McDermott getting double that!
"Every day the market changes. Someone might do a deal, another club gets someone injured, they sign someone and that frees up some money elsewhere.
"There's loads going on, it's an ever-changing picture. We have to be there or thereabouts."
Meanwhile, the Club have also said they have held discussions with a club in England regarding a defender.
They have also confirmed they do not want to sign Udo Nwoko, a Maltese striker.
Polish international keeper Wojciech Kowalewski is currently training with us.

It's probably his agent just trying to stir up interest

Don't forget though that the club categorically denied any interest in Fae, days before he signed.

Aha! Clearly it was the tea lady who signed Fae and all a big mistake!

So now at last it is in the media that we won't be signing him, although it seems a deal was almost completed before we asked for another agent to be involved and Nwoko didn't agree, as he didn't want to cause trouble with his agent.

Leixoes midfielder Nwoko will not be moving to Reading, despite earlier reports to the contrary.

The Nigeria born Malta international revealed he passed a medical with The Royals but that complications over an agent scuppered the move.

Nwoko said: “The deal was agreed but Reading asked to involve another agent in negotiations and I rejected their request.

“I have my agent and do not want to cause problems with him.

“The medical was fine and Leixoes would have made a lot of money from the deal but money is not everything in football.

“I am happy at Leixoes.”

Steve Coppell has added Jimmy Kebe and Marek Matejovsky to his squad this month and did not rule out making more signings as the January transfer window enters its final throes.

“I don’t foresee any more deals, but you can never tell,” Coppell told his club’s official website.

“As you get close to the deadline, things happen.

“We’re not in dialogue to move anyone, either in or out. But as always, things can change quickly.”

I suppose the question must be: Why did we want to involve another agent? Is it because we wanted an agent to represent us, but the player wanted his agent to get a bigger cut or something? :|

It could be (& this is pure speculation) that his agent isn't FIFA registered, which would make the transfer contrary to their rules.

It could be (& this is pure speculation too) that his agent is a complete shyster with whom the club refused to deal.
