rg6royal ahhh just imagine if we had lescott and mensah 8)

with a midfield of brown and matejovski........

Just imagine a team that played with the same heart they did in our first season in the Premiership. No need for these Mensah's and Brown's then.

May be QPR bound ?

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/ ... -21477346/

Southampton could this week be forced to sell exEngland Under-21 midfielder Andrew Surman this week just to meet the club's wage bill.

Qpr are expected to head a queue of clubs willing to pay a cut-price £400,000 for the 22-year-old who has made 133 appearances for the Saints.

Administrator Mark Fry was unable to pay any of the club'staff their June salaries on Thursday after a takeover deal with the Matt Le Tissier-fronted Pinnacle Group broke down.

And while a group of Swiss investors are now considering a £15million bid for Saints, Fry is under pressure from two directions to complete a deal in the week.

While they remain unpaid, any member of Saints staff or players could call in the receivers to close the club down. And time is fast running out for Saints to convince the League that they have a new owner in place and the finances to compete in League One when the new season starts in August.

And there was a hint of desperation from Fry.

He said: "If towards the end of the week we are in a situation where no bids for the football club are forthcoming, then I will meet with the directors of the club to discuss options."

Come on Reading, pull your finger out for christs sake, 400 grand for a proven player, tipped by many to be a hell of a player, its criminal if we don`t even make a bid for him. I`ve heard he`s a bit of a homebird and doesn`t want to leave the Southampton area, fair enough but Reading is closer to home than QPR, he could even commute every day from Southampton if need be.
400 grand? Come on!!

He will cost a lot more than 400k !

His agent will know that and his signing on fee / wages will have risen to soak up the available cash. Simply means Southampton get less of the money and he gets more.

it would be absolutely criminal if we don't at least make a bid.

Why ?

Would be a waste of time if he's going somewhere else.

Or if Rogers doesn't want him.

The law of " stupidity", we need a player of his class. We should snap the trio up IMO. Mcgoldrick, lallana and surman. Good players.

You said it would be "criminal" - so what "criminal" law would we be breaking? I don't remember hearing about anyone being charged for being stupid.

Why would we want to be raiding a club that was relegated from the Championship? Normally the negative people on here would be claiming what little ambition that shows.........

Yeah saw that on BBC, was one of the players I thought would be a excellent signing for Reading. Forest splashing out £1m showing ambition.

Well when you've been as rubbish as them for the last few years you start getting desperate !
Are you suggesting we should follow the Forest path to success ?

The Saints youngsters are all pretty good, with Surman and Lallana being the pick of the bunch from what I've seen

Just because they got relegated doesn't mean those youngsters aren't any good and wont flourish in a better team with the right players around them to compliment them

If Surman is going for that sort of price I would really hope we were in there fighting for his services as he is a genuinely good player and has a peach of a left foot. Rodgers might not fancy him, or think we need to get a player in for the positions he can play, but I would be surprised if that were the case

My only real worry would be that we look like having a young side already with our own youngsters tipped to play a bigger role under Rodgers. That might mean we wont really be looking for younger players from elsewhere as every side needs a blend of youth and experience

gazzer, loyal royal would prefer mcgoldrick

13 goals from midfield in a team that got relegated

So McGoldrick, Surman and Lallana or whatever his name is are supposed to be half decent and worth a punt? If they are so o*ford good, how come southampton got relegated?

I think my post from 30 April still stands.
