If you had said around a million then you might have been right. A million or so is pretty much like a million or a little more.

Oh and Dirk, just piss off.

Snowball I just love the way kneejerk DECIDES what one poster means by "a million or so"

According to him, it means £1,000,000 or more. He now can read minds.

So if an offer was £950,000 to £1,000,000 that WOULDN'T be a million or so?

So if an offer was £900,000 to £1,000,000 that WOULDN'T be a million or so?

Who says? Our IAN says. Therefore it's true.

Bollocks.

Let us be clear. I have not made ONE statement where I state what Reading have offered to Watford. But Jerko decides I have.

I do not say Reading have offered £750,000
I do not say Reading have offered £800,000
I do not say Reading have offered £850,000
I do not say Reading have offered £900,000
I do not say Reading have offered £950,000
I do not say Reading have offered £1,000,000

I do not say Reading have offered "a million or so"

Just spotted this

Reports in Sheffield suggest Smith has turned down a move to Bramall Lane as he favours a move to Reading so he can again link up with EX-Watford boss Brendan Rodgers.

edit

Ah, reading on it was just another rehash of Brendan's alleged statements

I apologise to everyone except snowball. Who is clearly playing silly word games when the implications in his post is quite clear given two clubs made bids and one was labelled derisory. If there is no implication that one amount in his post is Reading then there is no need to mention derisory at all.

But enough. As I said, I'm sorry I said anything.

I promise to try my best to ignore him to save my health and everyone elses.

He probably peaked last year but 17 goals and 9 assists, top midfielder on Actim, second top Championship player on Actim, he's certainly no mug. He was player of the season for the second year running too.

He was certainly good last season. Whether he's worth 1.8 million is a different question

You see how often you get things wrong Ian? Watford said they had two offers IN EXCESS OF ONE MILLION before they received the 1.8 million bid from Sheffield. One of those is allegedly Wolves.

But the 36-year-old Reading boss admitted: “(Smith) wants to be here. He’s a player that has turned down a number of moves.

“My job is to identify the players that I want and then I, in exactly the same scenario as Steve Coppell, let (director of football) Nick Hammond and the board get on with it.

“I’ve made it clear we’ve made the intent that this was the offer.

There were a number of other offers for Tommy and then one big one came in (from Sheffield United).

You see that, Ian. Not "just Reading" but A NUMBER OF CLUBS. The Watford site says we offered 800K (not 750K) and or own site has made it clear talks have not ended (strongly suggesting a higher offer or higher offers) and then there's Wolves and probably A N Other club...

From Getreading

http://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/football/readingfc/s/2054335_ryan_bertrand_set_for_a_loan_switch

Negotiations for Watford striker Tommy Smith have all but stopped as the club have not gone back with an improved offer after their bid of £750,000 was flatly rejected.

So no £1M ish bid then.
