Sarah Star I know it's no excuse not to have anyone by now, but I'm fairly sure they have been looking, it's just that things haven't gone that smoothly what with one thing and another.

That's very generous of you Sarah. You have to bear in mind that they've had at least 12 months to come up with a replacement and they're paid a lot of money to do so. Even with the drop in division they should still have plenty of ideas and leads on who they wanted, and could get, to replace Shorey, so I don't think there are any excuses really.

If they don't get a left back then it is another nail in the Team Coppell coffin.

Hampshire Royal I just saw the clip on Reading World and I'm pretty sure I detectged a sardonic smile on Coppell's face. He's well known for his dry sense of humour and (I hope) he was expressing it in the interview.

I'm a little bit annoyed (annoyed is probably too strond) by all those who will knock Coppell for every word that he speaks. Whatever people say about him, he's got a strong football brain and to read what some people say on here you'd thinbk he was deliberately trying to wreck our season. I believe we will get a LB in soon and maybe a RM. I still have faith that Coppell will do a good job this season and I hope I'm not disappointed!!

Agree that people read far too much into interviews .

However Coppell had made the decision that despite what happened last season, our best chance of promotion this season (which i believe if we don't make it will be his last here) is to stick with a large chunk of players who gained promotion in 2005/06. All well and good but they are also a large chunk of players who let him down for large periods last season.

Its a huge gamble anyway but if you couple it with the fact that there is an obvious imbalance in the make up of the squad (no established left back, no link forward and little creativity ) then he's leaving himself wide open to criticism. Of course its a little too early to tell yet but the early signs have hardly been good enough to dissuade any critics.

Agree. They should be given until the end of the transfer window to sort this out...however, if they don't then there will be uproar amongst the majoirty of fans and I expect the Madejski Out! chants to be very evident, and thoroughly deserved.

This might be the thing that makes the RTG's see through the constant lies and spin from the club.

Agree lets wait until the 1st September and if nothing is done on a positive note maybe we should have a fans protest.

We could hold it in the managers parking space perhaps!!!

this is ridiculous "we may not have to delve into the transfer market".We have the money, now stop being lazy and do your job Mr Coppell.

If this continues i may have to resign from my position of Loyal Royal after 20 years of service!!!

Kebe on the left, henry on the right. Thats what I would like to see. kebe's natural position is left wing according to SC.

I would take anyone quite literally, where is Rufus Brevett these days?

'LEft backs are hard to come by'

Well there are 92 professional league teams and 24 more in the Blue Square Premier. Each of them have a left back (well apart from 1) and in some cases shock horror 2 or maybe even 3!

So there is a starting ground of around 115 clubs you could try and approach Steve, anything else I can help you with?

But if they're worse at it than Stephen Hunt, what's the point in signing them?

I really feel like the club is taking the piss out of us. We're expected to put our money in every week, yet JM sits there having made shed loads in the last 24 months, and now paracute payments too and still we one poxy signing and fail to replace an england international left back.

F**king Joke!!!!!!!!!

The point is 'Left backs are hard to come by' no they aren't really are they?

That lad that went to Norwich might have come here but we don't believe in the loan market. The lad from Dagenham maybe? A left back isn't going to win you a league or promotion, just need a steady natural left back and there are tons of them around.
