Super_horns
FiNeRaIn Why would he want to join us?

To work with Rodgers and its closer to home than Sheffield U for example

He MIGHT just as well be better off staying at Watford, if you can afford to keep him of course.

Super_horns Looking at the average age of your side is he not too old to sign for you guys!?

Sounds like he got a cracker for us tonight ( I wasn't there clearly but Forest must have played a difference defence to the one on the Opening day tonight if we managed to get 4!) so maybe we'll up the price (the club want him to move on though and he wants to join you clearly)

Anyway I see a few of your fans are worried about lack of goals which made be surprised Rodgers didn't go for a Priskin/Rasiak because they were the key goalscorers when he was with us rather than Smithy in a 442 formation rather than 4-5-1.

Rodgers had a slow start with us due to players get used to tactics but we got results once the players were used to his methods.

Jack Cork will be a decent buy if he's avaliable?

In reality a point at Swansea isn't bad (we have them next..) and the passing will produce results (probably on September 26th!)

Patience.

Can you stop asking the same questions on different threads? His relationship with BR is a strong one, he rates BR and 'apparently' wants to play for him again.

You can base your comments on nothing. " apparently" doesn't cut it im afraid.

So what do you want? A direct quote from him?

Slightly concerned that if Smith continues to perform, we continue to dither and under-perform then we may end up with egg on our faces.

Hopefully we don't have all those eggs in one basket.

BRENDAN Rodgers hammered home his desire to sign a striker after his goal-shy Royals fired more blanks.

And sources suggest long-term target Tommy Smith is poised to join before the weekend after Watford accepted Reading's final offer.

While Rodgers' side failed to score for a third successive Championship game on Tuesday night, Smith was handing out a masterclass and inspiring Watford to their first win of the season.

Thanks, I've never been very good at skim-reading.

Do players normally play when a fee has been accepted? What if Smith had been injured in that Watford game?

Final offer made, according to the (what was) EP. The journalist sounds like he gets most of his footballing terminology from Champ...

Smith isn't the type of striker we need to bring in though as he fits into the same mould as all the other strikers at the club e.g. long, hunt..... We need to bring in someone who's big, strong and can hold the ball up which none of our players can do atm, and smith doesn't fit into that category.

Wrong.

We need someone who can create in the final third.

And he's nothing like Shane Long.

As I just mentioned on the Rumours board - if we'd had an offer accepted (as per the quote in the Chronic) why would Smith have played last night and risked injury? I would have expected us to have signed him by now in all honesty - for £1.8 million if necessary - if Rodgers wants him that much and that was his asking price - I don't think we were originally expecting to get 2.8 mill for Bikey, so that's a bonus to the coffers shirley?

Maybe it was only agreed today?

I agree, Smith would be a great signing, but we need more than just Smith.

We badly need players who can cross a ball, as Smith/Long/Hunt etc are not going to do the business on a regular basis with the service we got last season, and this season.

This team are not one man away from being great, it needs more than that.
