Well Smith supposedly does not want to move north so I can't see either of those bids being successful, if they're true of course.

I suspect that unless Zammo can put a link up that proves the bid that he has made his comment up just like the mills one that he made up

As said, who cares? Our bid has been reportedly accepted, Smith apparently wants to come here, and even more importantly wants to stay South. So if Zammo is right ot not, it shouldn't matter.

the article in the chronic says

BRENDAN Rodgers hammered home his desire to sign a striker after his goal-shy Royals fired more blanks.

And sources suggest long-term target Tommy Smith is poised to join before the weekend after Watford accepted Reading's final offer.

While Rodgers' side failed to score for a third successive Championship game on Tuesday night, Smith was handing out a masterclass and inspiring Watford to their first win of the season.

The Chronicle doesn't even send reporters to games anymore so I tend to take any Reading news in there with a large pinch of salt.

It won't matter if we sign Smith anyway. We need an out and out striker, not someone who can sit behind the front two.

Anyway, 43 games to go. This is a crazy div and anything can happen.

Not entirely true in my very humble opinion. We do need a link man of Smith's quality because our current strikers are not getting the feed that they need in order to create chances. We may also need a new striker but that is a moot point. From the games that I have seen it is getting the ball into the last third that is our problem; we don't even know yet if we have the talent to do anything when it gets there.
