Ian Royal Did we not buy Williams? What about Mariappa last season, I take it we didn't buy him?

Spending money is not the object people. Bringing in good players is. If you can do that for free, why on Earth would you pay for someone? Spending =/= good signing. Just take a fricking look at QPR. Hell, take a look at Fae & Halford.

Agree that spending money is not the object. But what causes cynicism is when the club continuously make noises about preparing to spend big, and then not doing so.

That's just a problem for people who don't understand that wages are the big money and transfer fees, no matter how much you pay, are basically pocket change in comparison. Our wage bill this year is going to be huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge for the Championship.

My NITK radar is also throbbing. Currently going through a purple patch.

Sorry but Chris Gunter is not quality. I don't know anyone who honestly gets excited when they hear his name in the line up. Stephen Kelly is decent but given that he is also cover for LB i just think RB is an area we could definitly strengthen.
We've got plenty of wingers and CMS but that hasn't stopped us strengthening there. Don't understand why suggesting we strengthen at RB is such a bold statement.

FridaysGhost This boy had immense potential, I'm unhappy he never had the chance to bloom at RFC. It also seems that, regardless of all the big promises, we are still not buying good players. If they are free we jump straight in, if they cost what they are worth, we are still just talking rubbish.

agreed :(

Kelly and Gunter are easily amongst the best RBs in the division, with Cummings not far behind.

Suggesting strengtherning at right back isn't a bold suggestion. It's a stupid one, because we have THREE right backs and ONE left back.

That says a lot for what you know about the lad at this level to be honest! Adkins loves wing-backs that get forward and support the winger, and Gunter does that better than Kelly and Cummings. He improved vastly under Adkins at the end of last season, and will be a key player next season!

All three of Kelly, Gunter and Cummings are perfectly fine for a promotion campaign. It is the one area we definitely don't need to strengthen.

I guess, to pick a player at random - Gylfi say - whose transfer fee would be £10m and whose wages over 3 years (average contract length) would be £8.5m suggests that what you say about pocket change is just plausibly bullshit. Of course sometimes the transfer fee is greater than the total wage, and sometimes the other way. I absolutely do understand. I have no problem with the club not spending. I have a problem with the club always saying it will ... and then not.

I think Gunter will prove to be the best right back in the league this season.
