Reading target Blackburn Rovers striker Roberts

by Jack Failsworth, Published Fri 20 Jan 2012 14:15, Last updated: 2012-01-20

According to reports Jason Roberts could be leaving Blackburn Rovers this month.

The Daily Mail claims Royals boss Brian McDermott is eyeing the Rovers marksman.

It is understood that Rovers will allow the experienced forward to leave Ewood Park during the current transfer window.

It is believed that the Championship side are keen to sign the 33-year-old on loan.

I'd be happy with this and then we can buy a long term solution in the summer when the transfer fees are a bit less crazy.

And you know that how exactly? Hardly a risk if we do a 4 month loan deal.

He's in Reading tomorrow to discuss personal terms. If all goes smoothly should be confirmed by the end of the week

Can't but i know tomorrow is basically the make or break day in the deal. It's been raging on for 10 days - 2 weeks now and i can imagine it is only the takeover thats delayed it but i think Roberts and RFC are keen to get this done ASAP

What personal terms are there to discuss in a loan? Surely we'll just deal with Blackburn the ask if he wants to come?

He's taking a pay cut to come to Reading, this needs to be discussed with the player himself. We aren't just paying Blackburn a %. Only what i've heard. Take nothing i say as gospel - i'll be first to admit i'm wrong if indeed i am

let me get this straight. you're either winging this by reading the internet and trying to claim you're in the know, or we are signing jason roberts and billy sharp?

Yes, funny one that as when i spoke to Fordham before he completely boo-boo'd the idea from me and said it was idle speculation. I said i had sources and still..

Slightly  at how much plausibility this seems to be gathering.

How many strikers is it we need exactly?
ALF, Hunt, Church, Manset, Sheppard, Bignall, Baseya, Williams, Roberts, Sharp???

Team for the next match anyone?
Federici
Williams, Baseya, Manset, Bignall
Sheppard, Roberts, ALF, Hunt
Church, Sharp

i agree. suddenly times have changed and players that might have been given time wont now get that time. the likes of williams, manset and baseya wont be here long. sheppard will get a loan at some point this season or certainly next, and new players will arrive. we'll also see the end of one or two like hunt this summer.

Just the kind of player Alf could do with alongside him - would be amazing to see that strikeforce in place of the blunt-as-a-ball-of-bluetack Church & Hunt partnership
