He was fired. My money would be on something happening at a christmas party.

But the West Ham manager said: 'I can confirm he has left. By mutual consent.
'At the moment that's all I'm prepared to say on the matter because I don't think I need to go any farther publicly. That's done between me and Wally.
'He's sorting out his terms and agreements with the club. That isn't sorted yet. It was amicable between the pair of us and we move on.'
Asked if he was the one who took the decision Allardyce said: 'I did, yes.'

From KUMB message board:

His cousin is a pal of ours. He was texting Wally and all he got told was "can't really talk about it. Reading is a non starter but there is stuff in the pipeline"

They are due to meet for a beer at Christmas so he'll dig for more info then.

Shame. I would love to see Wally back as first team defense coach; not sure about manager though.

What Reading need is a Manager who is not an ex player or staff member. Let's get some new ideas as opposed to the usual 'Reading Way' bollocks. That's the reality but no doubt we will go down the well worn path to obscurity.

Mark this day down in history. A Dodger post that is actually quite sensible and not full of the usual shite and catch-phrases

A well worn path that includes play offs, promotions, championship trophies, cup runs and everything else that we've experienced in the last few years?

Righto. The Reading way works. Accept it.

Tamworth_Royal
Royal Rother
Mid Sussex Royal No thanks - a lower league manager who would never cut it at even championship level - and from going to school with him a complete ****

I was joking.

The dream ticket is Royal Rother on Branson’s space rocket …………… but single only. Then again what a waste that would be……. I mean, it would? Wouldn’t it? Surely? yes? Rother in space… think of it ….. Him talking and no one listening ?????

Welcome back to hob nob Rother you are better off down here boring the shite out of people

Brian got all upset when asked about the Wally by Dellor so do not think he will be returning. Think he would help our defense. Shame.

As I said before Brian said he was "gutted for Wally" so he obviously knew what had happened. Also suggests an 'incident' had occurred rather than the natural parting of ways.

I'd also read somewhere he may have spouted off sensitive information about the Olympic Stadium bid to a journalist & that was the reason for him being fired.

i agree with jellytot's sentiment. i like to think we can strike well at times and this would be improved if we werent defending so poorly and could get forward a bit more. we keep putting them past arsenal, they just keep proving how frail we are at the back. forget buying anything remotely forward in january and just focus on some clean sheets. keeper included, im not a fan of feds or mccarthy at the minute. this could all be bull, i havent seen anywhere near as much of us as i'd like this season, perhaps i'd have better formed opinions if i could attend more regularly.

It was big Sam's decision he leave ...

My "love affair" with Wally goes back to the earliest Wimbledon days, even before they were coined "the crazy gang". Strange that Brian was so categorical in his "no". Wonder where Wally will turn up ? No clues on his very active twitter feed over Xmas.

I got the impression from that interview that any problem with Wally at the club doesn't come from Brian. Wally's comment a couple of years ago when Rodgers was on the way to taking us down that the club didn't want to retain Coppell's staff because the higher ups ''decided they wanted to go in a different direction. Which they are doing now'' would seem to indicate there is a problem between the two parties that goes above Brian.

I heard he had a big drink problem was turning up for training half cut. Fat Sam gave him a couple of warnings, eventually had enough.
