Guess;

Hooper to Palace allowing Murray to move on. Murray goes to Brighton or Forest. We miss out on everyone we were after.

0 in, 0 out. We loan out a couple when the injured players return.

We continue looking to strengthen through the loan window. We get Hammond on loan in mid October, and that becomes permanent. Bringing in Hammond with Williams and Karacan returning along with Norwood fit means that Guthrie leaves in January. We also lose Kuhl in Jan because we have plenty of 'strength and depth'. Obita goes in Jan too, to QPR.

Elmer Park
Royal Ginger 2 in today
Late bid we can't refuse for Obita
Iffy loan replacement plus another loan in the coming weeks.

Final prediction is that a lot of fans will be underwhelmed and Adkins will be disappointed and will do an interview tomorrow through gritted teeth, pretending to be pleased and reminding everyone the loan window reopens in a week or so.

He already appeared to be laying the foundations for that during his post match interview on Saturday. Maybe Hammond/Madejski had already started to manage his expectations and encouraged him to do the same during his interviews.

I fear that today will be another massive let down because if we haven't already done the deals, those in control of the purse strings at the Mad Stad will not want to pay what they see as inflated final day prices. So we will end up making 'good' and 'realistic' offers which 'underline our ambition' but which never stood a snowball in hell's chance of coming off.

According to CW there's only likely to be one signing made today.

We all know what's coming.................

We'll miss out on Murray and be told the right players weren't available at the right price, but there's always the loan window.

As feared/predicted here we go:

From Charles Watts

The latest I'm hearing is that it may well just be the one in for Reading today.

Royals are working hard on getting a £1.5 million deal for Glenn Murray over the line.

But it appears unlikely that anyone else will follow.

Reading's chase for Dean Hammond looks to have been unsuccessful and I understand they have missed out on another target to a Premier League club.

We are nearly 11 hours away from this evening's deadline, and it might not be as busy a day as Reading fans were hoping for.

Time will tell.

Also. we have apparently had a bid turned down by QPR for their left back, Yun Suk-Young!! If we wanted one of their players why the f*ck didn't we make the McCarthy deal conditional upon it?!! Instead we appear to have let them get what they wanted and then gone back with ' Oh, we forgot to mention, we would like to buy Yun Suk-Young, how about it?'.

Yun Suk-Young would've been a very good addition and allowed Obita to push up. More than happy to keep Obita as first choice left back however and have Cummings/Kelly as cover when they return from injury.

We put the bid in on Friday, apparently, when McC went the other way

Doyle to Palace could be on (bizarre), but that doesn't mean Murray's coming here. He's got his pick of Championship clubs.

 at all the kids (and apparently mature adults old enough to know better) who get excited about this circus.

It is deathly dull. I'll come back on here at 11pm to check that we haven't signed anyone. In the meantime I'd sooner watch The Great British Bore-off than that scotch pr*ck on SKY Sports News HQ HD.

The "JUST SIGN SOMEONE" crowd are the worst, I never understand why clubs have to sign players on the last day if they've tried to do all their business within the window.

That said, with Reading we probably need to sign someone.
