Have been told this isn't likely to go ahead ... anyone else heard this?

If Stam rejected him it's good news imo. Means he's looking for the right players not just who's available.

Makes sense, doesn't speak English and is soft as shit.

Ian will be upset though. Campi was his new obsession along side Fosu.

Ian is not the best judge of footballers. He thinks Gunter is sh*t.

Did anyone go out to the Netherlands? I couldn't really see much of him in the YouTube highlights

Brother Ian is wrong on many occasions, let us not criticise him when he finally gets something correct.

Looked a class above from the highlights, and whilst you can say that's easy to achieve on youtube it's something several of our previous signings have failed to manage.

If he's been rejected after being out on tour though, you've got to assume the manager and coaches know what they're doing. For now at least.

I wouldn't mind seeing an older, experienced CB come in, because I would still like to see Dickie and Hyam progress and be a long term partnership for us.

You don't even see him in action when Coops does his 'Let's give the opposition a free shot on goal' act.

Word has it that's likes to step out of the back four to intercept and as a result, kept on getting caught out with balls over the top as he wasn't holding the line.

If that's the case, we'd ship goals if he does that in the Championship.

Big shame because he looked a class act.

And I've said youtube highlights aren't a great source... but seeing clips of someone is better than having seen nothing of someone.

He seems to be a CB/DCM but without the coaching to make him treat each role differently. He also, obviously has language issues.

Even so, with the obvious talent, the ball skills and apparently a goal threat from dead-ball situations, he seems a great addition to the squad. We may need a DMC to cover for Van den Berg if injured or banned. We may need to play 3 at the back at times and he is also left-footed.

If we got him free and on sensible wages, he would be a good player to slowly introduce. If, however, doing so would mean another target that was needed became unaffordable, then the deal is dead.

Despite saying that a decision would be taken after the Dutch trip, no info is forthcoming. We'll be in the dark until the Club choose to rectify that situation.

You'd expect Stam to know defenders.

If he's happy, fine.

So if he thinks the player is either what we need for now, or has flaws that can be easily tweaked, I'm fine with him not being signed.

So if he thinks he can make him better don't sign him?

Strange.

If it's too much work to get him there, or he simply isn't. I'm happy with him not being signed.

End of the day. I'd expect Stam to be well placed to call this one.

I imagine this is simply a case of a player coming in on trial, and not being what the manager and coaching team think we need once they see him at close quarters.

Or, he may still be in Jaap's thoughts and the ITK tips are inaccurate (heaven forbid).

My bet is he'll play tonight to see whether he's taken stams feedback on board.
