We Need a Striker!!

Q. would signing a player with some link to his position or ability in his name actually help? does it give a mental egde over the opposition?

apparantly Fraizer Campbell has been offered out to champ clubs for loan/perm. Crystal palace want rid after signing of Benteke. He might be worth a punt been a couple of years since he has played a proper role in a team though....

I think he'd be a very good option if we could get him and he's still got the desire to make a go of it and his body is up to it (I seem to recall he's had more than his fair share of injuries).

In a similar vein I read that James Vaughan joined Bury this week. He's always impressed me, even if he hasn't always been the most prolific, and might've been worth a punt on a free transfer instead of some of these unknown from different leagues across Europe.

Surprisingly both Vaughan and Campbell are still only 28!

January is often too late to turn things around. Also, with the exception of Roberts, our record of signing strikers in January who make an impact in the same season is pretty poor.

I think Grabban would be a good fit for Reading, maybe a better fit than Gyan and a better long term option.

I've seen Valencia play out wide too, although I think he's better as a centre forward.

Emnes is pacy but doesn't have a great goal scoring record. I don't think he'd improve the team but I would take him over no one. The strikers in the squad now have potential but I'd like to see someone else to coming to ease the pressure on them and avoid being over-reliant on one goal scorer.

Wouldn't have fitted our system these days, but a shame how he's struggled to do much since he left, except at Bolton who couldn't afford him.
