Yeah it would have been an absolute no brainer to reject a team where he would have been guaranteed first team football whilst fit, when it was also one he knew well and had thoroughly enjoyed his time at.

He's hardly doing a Scott Sinclair at Spurs, he's made 34 appearances this season.

Hmmm. Let me think.

Do I stay at Spurs and have an opportunity to play Champions League next season or do I play for Reading who are likely to be in the Championship?

All irrelevant as he is under contract to Spurs and no bid has been accepted.

Exactly lol. He isnt going to come back anytime soon so stop dreaming. I think he will come good for Spurs, and by that I mean start showing more and more of the top player he can be. He has done fairly well for them so far, obviously its not that easy for him to get in the team, but I think he might just start rivaling Bale when it comes to curling in a few beauties like he did for us and Swansea. Lets hope he does, I like seeing ex RFC players doing well

My reading of the Evening Standard article was that Gylfi was just being sensibly diplomatic.
He would have been daft to tell Spurs that he wished Reading's bid had been accepted, but at the same time he significantly did not say that he was delighted to be staying at Spurs rather than returning to Reading.
Not burning bridges with either club.

It's the only real way he could respond after January. Just a shame the Damiao deal didn't go through. Back to square one.

Gylfi is given a proper chance, and now has 2 goals and 2 assists in 3 games?

Should shut some of you up.

Relegation was the nail in the coffin. Both are far too big for Reading. Even if we stayed up, Liverpool would very likely have rivalled us for him and you don't pick us over them. We're years, quite literally, at best from competing with those sort of clubs - if ever.

Rumpole I remain more convinced than ever that Gylfi will be returning home to Reading in the next transfer window
