Coppelled Streets And finally, with Reading starting building work next summer to take the 24, 200 capacity of the Madejski Stadium to 38,000 – The football club have also requested plans be drawn up to ultimately fill in the corners (which will resemble Arsenal's Emirates Stadium when finished) taking the capacity to a possible 41, 000 and plans to redesign the clubs 4 star hotel so the West Stand could be build back on, taking the final capacity to a possible 49,000.

This is probably a silly question, but aren't the corners already 'filled in'? :?

I think what they're getting at the access either side of the East stand, maybe??? Cant see 3,000 seats in those areas though! 60 if you're lucky.

I thought it meant filled in on the expansion bits.

The tops of each stand? If thats the case then it wouldnt look like the Emirates Stadium. Once the North, South and East stands are complete, the top of each will arc with the peak being in the centre of each stand.... creating a wave effect round 3/4 of the stadium., one stand less than the Emirates.

That's how i read it.

After the expansion the stands will be shaped similar to that of the Emirates Stadium I imagine. I assume this chappy means fill those corners in to recreate the bowl effect once again.

I hope we do keep the bowl shape. I prefer it to separate stands.

Separate stands are infinitely better for acoustics and atmosphere though..

We're buying Nicky Shorey for £5.5m and getting Mullins thrown in?

How can West Ham think that Mullins gives them any leverage.

What use is Mullins to us? He isn't gonna improve our team. We have 4 central midfielders that are all better than Mullins. Shorey would improve West Ham but Mullins wouldn't improve us!

Try Parker instead. That would be leverage, not bloody Mullins!

"Sheff United to sign Zoltan Gera for £2.5 million rising to £3 million on Thursday"

£2.5 m on Monday rising to £3m on Thursday.

At £500k for each three days, iff I was West Brom I hang on another week or so and get the price up to £5m.

Chelsea are putting a bid in for Andy D'Urso after their new signing, Rob Styles, proved to be a great success at Anfield on Sunday.

OK, the Royals will categorically not be making a move for Nugent (he does not fit the profile of a Reading forward at all principally, he's not that quick, and speed in attack is the key for Coppell). They have, however, revived their interest in Kilgallon who finds himself, once again, languishing outside the Premier League and watching his career passing away from him while Mclaren searches around for international class centre hAlves he cannot even think about pressing a claim.

The areas Steve Coppell is looking at is midfield and right back. Regarding midfield, although two signings have come in, he feels that there is too much mediocrity in the squad there and would happily sell two players (Reading fans will know who I am talking about one of them would not mind a move back to Wales.) to bring in a higher quality player. He is therefore looking abroad, principally in Latin America where he feels quality can be found at a sensible price.

No new arrivals/announcements before the transfer window closes though, although expect Nicky Shorey to extend his contract before the year end. (He has realised, after playing for England against both Brazil and Germany that playing at Reading has been a huge boost for him and while he would leave to a big 4 club, he does not see the point in leaving to a Tottenham/Newcastle and certainly not a the Hammers.)

...below this it also says:

Hammers to finally sign Shorey for 3.8 million + Zamora going to the Royals.

Reading FC
– –
LA Galaxy owner and American billionaire Philip Anschutz has made a formal offer for Premier League club Reading. John Madejski who has been Chairman of the Berkshire club for 17 years is keen about a deal. Anschutz has been instrumental in Reading's recent announcement of a partnership with the American Youth team "Valdosta Lowndes Soccer Club" of Georgia. Valdosta have over 400 youth players on their books from U9 through to U18. Reading already have strong links across the pond with two current American internationals on their books; goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann and winger Bobby Convey.

Anschutz Entertainment Group, which has stakes in two U.S. soccer teams, including the MLS's Los Angeles Galaxy and Houston Dynamo; the NHL's Los Angeles Kings; the AHL's Manchester Monarchs; the ECHL's Reading Royals; the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers; Staples Center; Home Depot Center; Major League Lacrosse LA Riptide; the Swedish soccer team Hammarby IF; the German hockey teams Hamburg Freezers and Eisbären Berlin; and the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles; In the UK they own the Manchester Evening News Arena, the London Arena, and the Millennium Dome which is being redeveloped as a multi-purpose arena, and re-launched under the name "The O2".

The Lakers, the Kings and the Galaxy! This is a big time organization. I had to laugh at "Major League LAcrosse", though. That takes a bit of the gloss of their holdings.
